Agent: Olin Kreutz open to playing
After a tough couple of days of reflection, former Bears center Olin Kreutz wants to continue his career if he can find the Super Bowl contender, his agent Mark Bartelstein said Tuesday.
Kreutz took it hard Saturday when talks broke off with the Bears. Chicago offered him a one-year contract at $4 million. He was hoping for about $800,000 more. Talks broke off quickly and both sides went different directions. Within the next 48 hours, the Bears signed former Seahawks center Chris Spencer, leaving Kreutz out of a job.
Kreutz talked about retirement. Now that he has had a couple days to reflect, he has re-opened the door to finding a new NFL home.
Coming off a trip to the NFC title game last season, Kreutz would like to make his services available to a team that can compete for a championship.
"After rejecting the Bears offer because of the way he felt things were handled, Olin is keeping an open mind to continuing his career if he finds a situation that he is excited about," Bartelstein said.
The 34-year-old Kreutz is considered one of the best offensive line leaders in his era. He is a six-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro. Kreutz was the Bears third round pick in 1998. During his Bears career, he played in 191 games and started 182.
Kreutz, according to Bartelstein, is staying in great shape in case the right situation arises.

Yeah, that ship has sailed but there are teams that would be glad to have him. I think somebody will pick him up and of course there's always the chance that Spencer blows out a knee anyday now and Angelo begs Olin to come back.
What I caught was his disappoinment over the way it was handled. I think he felt disrespected and I think he has a point.

It goes both ways. He could've asked for 400k less once they said 4 mil, and also realize he's 34.....

I think it was more about all the paycuts he'd taken previously to stay here and be a bear. sounds to me like Krtuetz has been on the "give" end of the stick his whole career and the ONE time he try's the "take" approach....
he get's his dick knocked in the dirt.... that's just bad pool JA.

if he really thinks this, he should have said it the last time he signed a contract. As of now, no team is willing to pay him what he wants. As of now he is the guy that has to lower his asking price.

soul he can feel as disrespected as he wants but the fact he tried to bullshit his way to over 4mil when it looks like the highest 49ers offered was what they gave Goodwin speaks volumes. Do I want Kreutz over Spencer? Yes. Do I wish we had a gm that plans for these things and Kreutz would have been properly replaced a couple years ago? Hell yes. None of that happened. But as much as Kreutz was one of my favorites holding my fav team hostage for more money and we called his bluff that is on him and not the team. he got a mil more then the competing team and it shows since he is still laying down at home

Yeah right! That's just what he should have done. I'm sure you would have Henry.
