BOURBONNAIS -- Chicago Bears defensive tackle Marcus Harrison, who remains on the non-football injury list after not passing his physical, said he probably won't practice Thursday for the fifth consecutive day.
Harrison reported to training camp overweight for the second time in his Bears career. He expected to be sidelined for just a few days while trying to work off the extra weight. Harrison reported at 327 pounds, 11 pounds overweight.
One has to wonder if the Bears are close to cutting ties with the former third-round pick from the 2008 NFL draft. They signed defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, a former first-round pick of the Texans.
Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli was asked about Harrison's status.
"I'm concerned any time somebody's not practicing," Marinelli said. "Very concerned about that."
Marinelli was asked how Harrison could get back in the mix.
"Get (him) out to practice," the coach said. "Once he gets there, then we can start working. The first rule to getting better is to show up."
Can't believe this guy would show up all out of shape again knowing the competition he was up against even before Okoye got here.
Rod doesn't seem please with him at all and with the delay. I love his line about the first rule of getting better is to show up, LOL. Maybe after we cut him he can add another 20 or 30 lbs to that 327lbs and play for the Vikings in place of one of the Williams Wide Bodies, LOL.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
