Hayden set to visit Bears today

APFree agency is just about over, but a few interesting names remain out there.
One of them, recently released cornerback Kelvin Hayden, will visit the Bears on Monday. Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports the news, which makes a lot of sense.
The Colts and Bears play the same system of defense, Hayden is only 28, and he started 11 games last year for a division champion. The Bears did a nice job with former Colt Tim Jennings and Hayden is a lot more talented.
Hayden told McClure he plans to make one more visit after Monday’s stop in Chicago.

I've been saying all offseason that I think we need more help at CB. Don't know that he is my favored target in FA, but at least the team is acknowledging what I see.

Hardly! Hayden is 4" taller and 10-15lbs heavier than Jennings and the fact that he's played in a cover-2 zone defense makes him as good a pickup as anybody else we could find right now. We all agreed that another CB was a needs going into FA so here's one that still on the market.
Right now the only experienced CB's we have other than Peanut are Jennings and Bowman and one has issues with his size and the other with his ability to play in zone coverage. After than it's Joshua Moore and Corey Graham neither of whom have any real experience starting at CB. Hayden is a decent insurance policy against an injury to Peanut and probably good enough to compete for a starting spot.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Hayden measured at 5'10-3/8" at the combine. Jennings at 5'7-6/8".
Those are their true height, not lineup card stats.

It's been a while since either was at the Combine sox. I was just going by how their teams list them. Maybe they grew some, LOL.
