Soul, that is a very cool article.

I did not disagree with anything that I saw except Marcus Harrison who has now invented negative percents to make the team.

The part that scares me is that I actually like our OL 100x better then last years crew. I think we have a better starting unit and better depth.

Do not count out Levi Horn he is a big OT/OG and looked okay in preseason last year.

I tackle the receiving core next.

TE: I'd agree with the assessment here. I think we keep just three TE's this year and Spaeth, Davis and Clark will be the three. We almost always keep another TE on the practice squad and I think it will most likely be Andre Smith because of his size and blocking skills.

WR: I'm gonna step out here and predict that we keep six; RWill, Knox, Bennett, Hester, Hurd and Sanzenbacher. The first five are obvious and I think we have to keep Sanzenbacher off the PS to protect him. I think he can play ST to earn a roster spot while they work him into the WR rotation in the slot.

To me there should be fewer question marks about who makes the team at these positions than almost anywhere else on the offense except QB.

Thanks Windy. We usually start one of these on our own after the 2nd preseason game when the cuts begin but I found this one on another site and figured it was as good a starting point as any The guy who created it is just another amateur poster like all of us.

LOL, whether any of us like this year Oline better than last years is moot. It's all we have to work with so it has to work, plain and simple. I think you may have a point about Horn too. He's hung in there for an entire year and he has the size that Tice likes but the problem he'll have getting off the PS again this year will be his lack of experience. Unless we bring in a better vet option it's likely that OMG will hang around just because he does have the experience.

I see Eddie Williams is listed at the FB/H-back position... I have a feeling that's where we'll see a lot of Des Clark.

You may be right but I'm hoping they don't use the approach of putting a TE like Des in the backfield again this year. If EWill earns that FB spot use him as a FB/H-back but leave Des as a TE/H-back. There should be a spot for both in this crazy offense of Martz's.

I'll tackle the Oline next and for the most part Tice has made it easy.

With Webb and Carimi starting at OT and CWill and Louis at OG that cinches up four spots and we know that Garza will handle OC until Spencer gets in the groove so that's six. We'll keep another three on the 53-man roster although not always on the gameday roster so I'm thinking the last three will be. OG/OC Edwin Williams, OG/OT Levi Horn and Swing OT Frank Omiyale unless by the Grace of God we can find someone else's vet release to replace his sorry ass.

A couple of the rookies like Josh Davis, Brignone or Linnenkohl, and Ricky Henry may make the PS. All we need is for Tice to make players out of prospects because that's what he have the most of right now. Prospects.

I agree with everything this guy posted regarding the Dline. The first 8 are locks all the way down through Okoye. I would have thought that Gholston would have stood better than a 50% chance of making it too but from what I've read so far he's pretty far off the mark. The trouble is that there may be no one else in camp doing any better and he either wins by default and spends most of the year inactive unless he improves or we find another guy from the waiver wire.

Whatever the outcome we're still one DE short of what we need if only Peppers, Izzy, and Wootton make the team.

Omiyale a lock? Obviously didn't draft enough linemen.

The Bears typically keep 8 so it looks like the reserves will be OMG, Edwin Williams and Levi Horn unless either one of the rookie UDFA's breakout or they pick up another vet to replace OMG or one of the others once cuts are made elsewhere. The problem is that he's the only other OT we have with starting experience. I like that, he sucks but at least he's experienced at sucking, LOL.

No question about the fact that we need an upgrade there but for where is the question. Let's hope that both Carimi and Webb play well and stay healthy so we don't have to see his torreador (ole') ass at all this season. Next offseason we need two more Oline prospects from either the draft or a young FA pick up.
