The phrase does not mean that it's pure speculation although that's what it must be in the author's mind, LOL.

I am just saying, you can not write off the thought, because that same thing was used a year ago when Martz was hired.
"Unnamed sources said Olsen wanted a trade"
Olsen says that is not true
Angelo says that is not true
fast forward a year
Angelo admits, yes he wanted to be traded a year ago
Just cause it is an unnamed source, does not mean that it is always just the reporters thoughts and opinions.
Just most of the time
Understood. I just think ( when they DO do it ) it's a chickenspit way to do one's job. It's never gonna change, but it's good to have a forum where we can say what we want to about it, also.

Ya know Benji I don't have the time or the inclination to continue debating with you about this or the Matt Forte deal. If you want to grasp and straws and bring arguements into this that are totally non-sequitur to this situation then do it with somebody else. You're just being pigheaded and repeating the same old shit over and over even after other posters besides me reinforce what I'm trying to point out to you.

Why would a well respected vetran reporter make stuff up? Does it make sense?

I wish the bears would trade Angelo.

Benji, sorry I was a little harsh in what I posted yesterday. I apologize here as well. Opinions are opinions and ours just differ that's all.
The only way that I can answer the above question is with what I'm posting below. When both Knox and Lovie claim that any report that he said he wanted to be traded is false I think you have to believe that it was either made up or a huge embellishment of the facts. "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has web feet and swims, etc. etc. ect.
Why? To sell newspapers and sensationalistic stories tend to do that. I don't care how well respected he may be he's still a reporter with a job to do and if you tell me they never lie or make things up your new board nickname just became, Pinocchio.

Knox refutes trade report
Posted: 8/11/2011 6:57:00 PM
Bears receiver Johnny Knox on Thursday refuted a Chicago Tribune report indicating that he may want to be traded if he isn’t able to beat out veteran Roy Williams for a starting position.
“I’m a Bear and I want to stay a Bear,” Knox said after practice. “I didn’t say anything about wanting to be traded. I got drafted here. I want to finish here and I do not want to be traded.”
The article, which cited an unnamed source, came after Knox was listed behind Williams on the first unofficial depth chart the Bears released Wednesday. Knox insisted that he’s not frustrated and realizes that he’ll have to continually prove himself to earn playing time.
“It’s always going to be like that every year,” Knox said. “They bring new guys in; they’ll get somebody better than you. I understand that. This is the NFL. You have to keep playing and use it as motivation to get better.”
Regardless of whether Knox starts, he’ll most likely still be given plenty of opportunities to contribute in coordinator Mike Martz’s offense, which is known for its multi-receiver sets.
“I think it’s fairly obvious how we feel about Johnny. Johnny is a big part of what we’re going to do,” coach Lovie Smith told reporters. “You guys are making a story out of [Knox being listed as a second-stringer]. That’s no story.
“We have a starting rotation. We have to put out a depth chart. We brought Roy Williams in here; Roy’s a good football player. All guys will get reps and prove where they belong; whether they’re going to dress on game day, whether they’re going to be in the starting lineup. It’s that way for Johnny and everyone else.
“You have to start off somewhere. It’s no more than that. We’re a little early to start running somebody out of town or putting someone up top or anything like that. We’re not there yet. This is just a part of the evaluation process.”

Well so much for the situation with the 1st nominee. But there will be more. Wonder who # 2 will be.

Don't think Biggsy's a nominee any longer. I think he won the award but there's a rumor going around that he asked to be traded from the the Trib to the SunTimes unless they give him top billing over David Haugh. I have this on good authority from a very "reliable source", (Tommy the bartender at "Irish Micks" where Biggsy hangs out) so I feel comfortable in spreading this unfounded rumor.
If that happens he may not be able to attend the presentation ceremony and he sends his regrets. So in that event here's your prize;

I'm sure, as time goes by, there will be a #2 soon enough .... then a 3,4,5,6 and so on. There are plenty of weiners in the MEdia : print, radio,T.V. They will distinguish themselves as time goes on. Some already have.... Mariotti, Kaplan, Dildo, Primetime etc. Feel free to add as you all see fit.
( I should have called this the Mariotti Award. Even went back to the orig 1st post and went advanced and changed the name of the thread but it's not showing up )
