are the bears considered the primary tenants? problem is the multi use aspect of soldier field. dedicate it to the bears, give the grass field time to establish itself and reroute the concerts to grant park and the high school games to more appropriate venues.

The Bears are the primary tenants and have an equal say in the type of playing surface that the field will have but apparently they've chosen not to be the only tenants so the CPD can continue to generate extra revenue through other events. What you suggest makes the most sense. Limit the usage of Soldier Field to NFL Football only from July 1st through January 31st and about 99% of the problems caused by over use will be solved. All the Bears have to do is cough up the equivalent of whatever revenue shortfall is caused by that.

But the other problem of being unable to maintain a healthy grass playing surface after October when the grass becomes dormant will still be a problem and that can only be solved by either constant resodding or by an alternate playing surface. No matter how you approach it the natural grass field will always be a problem late in the season and during the playoffs and I don't see a way around that.

By the way, welcome to the board. Hope you enjoy it here.

thanks for the welcome. i guess limited use of soldier field is the first thing that needs to be agreed upon. if they can get that outta the way they can decide on the best surface.
