    It’s 27 days until the start of the 2011 NFL season. And 27 was the average pass attempts per game last season for Bears QB Jay Cutler. Not only was that a career low for Cutler, but it’s the lowest such number for a starting QB under passing guru Mike Martz, Chicago’s offensive coordinator.

    Dating to 1999 and spanning three different teams, last year actually marked the first time during that period that a quarterback has averaged fewer than 30 attempts per game when Martz was the head coach or offensive coordinator.

    I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

    What's disturbing though is that the pass attempts peak when he was HC in Detroit and who was his favorite target during that time? Tell me that he won't be tempted to go back to "Air Martz" now that he has a QB like Cutler matched up with his "Golden Child" Roy Williams. I still think that by mid-season Lovie and Tice will have to reign him in again.
