I agree - run blocking appeared to work. Maybe that has been step 1 of Tice's plan in practice for developing these guys: 1) establish the run, 2) pass block. I hope Tice knows what he's doing, and I believe that he does. I also agree with others that this is way too early to pass judgment. Give them the preseason at least. My only fear is that if it doesn't work, major changes are required to fix it.

I'll refer to the title of this thread and address this. I don't think he's overrated as much as I believe he thinks too highly if his ability to turn sow's ears into silk purses overnight. I don't think there's any question that Webb and Louis have talent but there's a reason why these guys were 7th round draft choices and not firsts like Gabe Carimi. Obviously something is missing in their game or I don't think as many teams who need good Olineman, expecially LT's and athletic OG's, would have overlooked both of these guys for 6 rounds.

Gabe Carimi was a first round pick because he's a "plug and play" rookie but Webb and Louis are not and that's essentially what Tice has been trying to get out of these two. They're the kind of guys who other teams draft and put on the bench for three years or so before they ever let them get near a starting role. They're both still at the apprentice level but because JA keeps screwing up in his efforts to build the Oline with decently prepared starter level talent Webb and Louis get promoted before they're ready and not only does the team suffer but over the long run their NFL careers might as well. You don't see New England doing this kind of shit when they need to protect Brady!

That's my two cents worth on it.
