Ray Lewis has four years on Brian Urlacher, but with the way the veteran Chicago Bears linebacker is feeling these days, perhaps he will have the same kind if longevity as the Baltimore Ravens future Hall of Famer.
"I feel great right now," Urlacher said Tuesday on "Mike & Mike" on ESPN 1000. "Three weeks into training camp and no nicks and bruises, nothing like that. I feel really awesome considering how old I am, I guess people say. What Ray has done is amazing. Sixteen years and still last year he was all-Pro and went to the Pro Bowl. That's what you want to be like right there. He's probably the best of all time. If he retired right now he would be, I think so."
Lewis, 36, has strung together three straight seasons in which he has played 16 games after battling injuries during the middle of his career. He made his fifth straight Pro Bowl -- and 12th overall -- last season.
After a three-year absence, Urlacher, who turned 33 in May, was named to his seventh Pro Bowl last season.
Urlacher knows he has to put in more work to maintain his productivity as he gets older.
"I don't know what to attribute it to," Urlacher said. "I guess just being lucky, taking care of your body, trying to do some different things off the field, stretching. The older you get the more things you've got to find to take care of yourself I guess."
