But even Jason Taylor had more size and everydown ability than Maybin has. His scouting reports raps him for his lack of strength and while you can get by with that at the college level you can't in the pros. Maybin has never added good bulk or strength and that's why he doesn't succeed at this level. There was a concern about that very thing in that Combine Report. It indicated that maybe he didn't have the body type that would allow him to get bigger and add muscle.
It's unfortunate because the guy has some real athleticism to him but he's really a DE playing in a LB's body. A tweener who really can't play either well. He another one of those "looks like Tarzan plays like Jane" types who never cut it in the NFL but always tease teams into thinking they can. I'm afraid the list of former failures like him is long and distinguished.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Why would he say yeah to join a deep dline like ours where he wont get a real shot?
we need lb, DB, S, OL other then that players would probably shy away cause they wont get near a starting line up or rotation

I don't know if it was so much that he told us no as that he said yes to the bigger better deal in NY. When we have guys who come off the edge like Reed and Addison did on Saturday and they both outweigh this sackless wonder by 20-25lbs I really can't see why we'd want the guy anyway. I'm sure all the Bears did was toss a mini non-guaranteed deal at him so they could bring him to camp and see what he had. Let Rex Ryan see if he has better luck with Maybin than he did with Gholston.

Yeah but seems like our coaches like the reclamation projects, bring on the challenge and see if we can make something out of this guy on the cheap.
