BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — After a brief appearance in the preseason opener, new Bears receiver Roy Williams is trying to do all he can to gain the favor of quarterback Jay Cutler.
‘‘I’m just trying to be where I’m supposed to be when I’m supposed to be there, and not fooling him. That’s our No. 1 goal,’’ Williams said. ‘‘And I’m just trying to talk to him off of the field, trying to be buddy-buddy, trying to get a couple balls. That’s how it works.’’ Williams winked, emphasizing his playful comment before concluding, ‘‘He kind of gives me the cold shoulder every once in a while.’’
While the Bears have high hopes for Cutler-to-Williams, that duo hasn’t produced many highlights during training camp. Still, Cutler is excited about Williams’ development and acclimation.
‘‘You can see more glimpses of Roy Williams each and every day on film,” Cutler said. ‘‘So hopefully by Monday, he’ll be ready to go.’’

Im sure Cutler will give you the damn ball provided the oline gives him time and Roy actually earns the trust of his qb by catching the ball.

Looks like we just signed "Keyshawn Williams", LOL. I'm really not all that concerned about what's happening between them in camp. Once the whistle for the season starts you know Martz will be calling in plays for RWill regularly we all know that.

I'm just torn over what nickname he should have:
A) Roy "drops more than the dow jones" Williams
B) Dropapotamous
C) Mr. Mittens
D) drops faster than a crooked boxer
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

You may have to ask JD's permission to partially plagiarize his nickname, LOL.

Roy Williams says he’s not in shape

Getty ImagesThree weeks after signing with the Bears, wide receiver Roy Williams says there’s something big he needs to improve before he can be the kind of contributor he wants to be in Chicago.
“My conditioning,” Williams said, per John Mullin of CSNChicago.com. “Getting my wind right. You have to be able to run in this offense. Run all day long.”
Williams says it’s not his fault that he’s not in shape. According to Williams, there was nothing he could have done during the lockout to get himself into shape for a football season, because the only thing that gets you into football shape is playing football.
“I’m a firm believer in no matter what you do in the offseason, nothing will get you football ready except for playing football,” Williams said. “That’s what I believe. It’s tough. You can run all the hills and mountains that you want to, but when you get out here and play for four seconds and jog back to the huddle, that’s what gets you in shape.”
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said Williams appears to be getting closer to being in shape, and that he’s confident Williams will be ready to go a full game at full speed soon.
“Roy’s definitely getting back into shape, taking more plays every day,” Cutler said. “You can see more glimpses of Roy Williams each and every day.”
Soon, the Bears will want Williams to be in good enough shape that they can see more than just glimpses.
