Pretty much the way I see it too. We were pretty much the only ones who jumped all over him last years and now that every team in the league has seen what we got his value is awfully low. If we trade him that team needs to pick up his 2011 salary and even if they pick him up on waivers he's a 10 year vet so his minimum salary is about $875k. That's an expensive proposition for a guy who couldn't even average 3.0 ypc last season.

I would consider the Bears to be fortunate if they could simply get someone to pick up Taylor's salary.....
On the other hand, if no one wants to pick up Taylor's salary, why should the Bears do any other team a favor by releasing him before the final roster cuts. We wouldn't want to help some other team by giving them extra time to work(practice) with Taylor on the Bears dime, would we?

I would be happy with a 7th. He will be cut anyways

Once he's cut the Bears are no longer responsible for paying him. NFL contracts aren't guaranteed like they are in other sports and in training camp all they receive is a small per diem. Releasing him now is more of a favor to him so that he has a better opportunity to catch on elsewhere and it allows the Bears to give more reps to the other backs. It's not uncommon for teams to release vets like him before the end of camp.

I would say if the Texans are indeed interested could they pop on a low draft pick so another team could not snatch him off the waiver wire? That's IF.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

There are only about a half dozen teams who would have a priority over them on a waived player anyway so even then the chances are slim. If we got a pick I'd consider that a bonus but I'm not counting on it.

I'd say his biggest success came from underperforming and staying on the bench so that Forte could have another banner year. Me thinks that if Angelo was speaking in anyone's defense it was his own for even signing the guy. On paper the idea looked good but on the turf of Soldier Field and elsewhere it didn't work. Now it's time to part ways with him.

Yeah, I was originally on board with the Taylor signing.
Now I don't think he has anymore value than any UDFA.

I say hang onto him for a while. You never what a team will offer during the season if their own RB goes down...hed have more value for a team desperate for a RB
