Nick his value won't be any higher then than it is now. Teams have to get their offenses in order in the preseason and that's when they'll look to fill in holes they have. RB's aren't like QB's in that regard. His value now is as high as it will get and that's not very high in my opinion. Right now the team with the biggest need may be the Lions since it was reported that Jahvid Best may have sustained another concussion but I don't see us trading him to them. If they were interested, and anyone else for that matter, they'd wait for him to be cut.
Taylor is a 32 years old #2 or #3 back who can't play special teams and he's due $1.25 mil this year. Few teams will be in the market for a guy like that and those who are will probably wait to see if the Bears cut him which I'd say is 90% for certain. We can't waste a roster spot on him in place of player who may be a productive ST guy at. Unless things change dramatically Bell will be the #3 RB and Taylor will be history by the time the final roster cutdown is done. I think the author is dreaming if he thinks we'll get much, if anything, for him after that disaster he laid on us last year.

Taylor appears unconcerned over tenuous status
Bears running back could be odd man out soon

BOURBONNAIS — Chester Taylor isn't oblivious to the talk going on around him.
He knows many out there believe he will be the odd man in the running back rotation, and Taylor couldn't care less what outsiders think.
"Everybody's going to talk,'' he said. "(But) it's all about your play on the field.''
Taylor's play last season is a big reason why he has been the target of so much criticism. The Bears signed the former Viking to a four-year, $12 million contract that included $7 million last season with hopes he would be the perfect complement to Matt Forte, and possibly challenge Forte for the starting role. Instead, Taylor responded with a dismal 2.4 yards per carry in 112 attempts.
During the offseason, general manager Jerry Angelo said the team had no immediate plans to cut ties with Taylor based on the money already spent, but Angelo also cautioned that no one's job was safe.
Based on what offensive coordinator Mike Martz said last week, one would think Taylor's had job security.
"Chester is having a heck of a camp,'' Martz said. "He has lost some weight. He's in great shape.''
In reality, the Bears aren't going to pay Taylor $1.25 million this season to sit the bench. The addition of Marion Barber as the short-yardage back immediately knocked Taylor down in the rotation. Plus Kahlil Bell's eye-opening performance in the exhibition opener against the Bills only left more doubt about Taylor's status.
The Bears kept four running backs last season after Bell and Garrett Wolfe both made the cut. But a guy like fullback Eddie Williams or rookie receiver Dane Sanzenbacher could take a roster spot from the running back group this season.
Taylor might improve his prospects Monday night in New York, provided he gets the opportunities. He played just six snaps last week.
"The coaches are going to make their decisions and the evaluations,'' Taylor said, "so I'm just going to come out here and keep playing.''

Arizona might have some interest now. If Beanie Wells were my best RB, I would be interested.

So the Texans, Cards, and perhaps the Lions are looking for a RB. Seems like we could garner a scrub pick now...

I'm sure the Bears have an interest in swapping him for a pick and if the number of interested parties increases so do the odds but I'm still thinking they'll all wait for him to be cut then get on the horn with his agent. What would help is if he gets a few good carries against NY and showcases himself a little then maybe the interest in him will pick up. As it stands all he has to go on is the lousy effort he put out last year.

You guys seem to be forgetting that he averages 1ypc, is old, and is expensive. Nobody will be giving up anything for him. Any UDFA is a better option than him.
Just because teams need a rb doesn't mean they will want him.

I would agree w/ya to an extent but they also know what kind of line we have and weren't able to run the ball for squat last season between the tackles. Your probably right though he will be cut and UDFA would most likely be better. Be nice to get slightly lucky though.

I would love to get a pick for him, but I don't think its likely. I think a 5th or 6th is dreaming. Of course I will be elated if it happened.
