    Hanie Rebounding Nicely.

I know he's our #2 and maybe it's just habbit as the #2 QB in chicago for the longest time was ALWAYS the most popular... LOL... anyway... looks like Martz knows what the hell he's doing by making the kid sit and take a day to collect himself...

    Hanie shines again under lights

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – After struggling in training camp as well as last Saturday’s preseason opener, Caleb Hanie looked sharp for a second straight practice Thursday night.

Caleb Hanie is making quicker decisions and throwing with more accuracy in camp.Operating the No. 2 offense in 11-on-11 drills, the Bears quarterback threw touchdown passes deep down the left sideline to receivers Jimmy Young and Kris Adams and also rifled a completion to tight end Matt Spaeth between two defenders on a deep out to the right.
Hanie has not thrown an interception in two straight practices after getting picked off 10 times in his previous three workouts dating back to last week.
"Really I think everything’s finally catching up: feet and brain and everything,” Hanie said. “I’m just trying not to over-think things and just go out and throw the ball. I’m going to miss some reads, but as long as I’m decisive in everything, that’s all that matters. We can fix all the other stuff.”
After Hanie completed 3 of 7 passes for 32 yards and a 56.8 passer rating in last Saturday’s preseason win over the Bills, both coach Lovie Smith and offensive coordinator Mike Martz told reporters that the fourth-year quarterback didn’t play as well as they had hoped.
Hanie watched rookie Nathan Enderle take all the second-team reps in Monday’s practice. But on Tuesday Hanie was back with the No. 2 offense and on Wednesday Martz clarified that the Colorado State product would retain the backup position this season “unless his arm falls off.”
Asked about dealing with adversity, Hanie said: “The thing about this game is you’ve got to be really resilient and you’ve got to have a short memory, especially as a quarterback. It goes for interceptions and stuff like that, but it works for this tough situation too. In my mind right now it’s like it never happened.
“I’m rolling forward. That’s all I can do is look ahead.”
Hanie is still trying to make up for lost time after being forced to sit out practice until Aug. 4 along with the other free agents who signed contracts following the lockout.

“At first you don’t think it’s going to matter that much,” Hanie said. “The first two days of practice I felt really good. And then after a lot of ‘installs’ start piling up on you, you start losing some things here and there. It definitely hurt just not getting in a rhythm as fast as everybody else. But it’s still not an excuse. You still should be ready to go.”

Good to hear that he's getting on track. I think Cutler was right. Missing that first week of camp probably set him back a bit. It seems like Martz idea worked but either he didn't explain it very well to Hanie or Hanie misunderstood what he was told because none of it came across like it was a one day time out. Besides I believe guys need to practice their way out of problems not think their way out of them on the sidlines.
