"Omygod" Omiyale at LT Again?.........................
With apologies to Annie Lennox; "Bad Dreams Are Made Of These".
Don't count Omiyale out at left tackle

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Frank Omiyale is used to waiting. After all, he had to wait four years and play in two different cities (Atlanta and Carolina) before he became a full-time NFL starter. Entering his third year with the Bears, Omiyale finds himself in unfamiliar territory, running with the second team as the Bears attempt to figure out if J'Marcus Webb can be a long-term fixture at left tackle.

AP Photo/Jack DempseyFrank Omiyale is figuring he'll get a chance to play with the first-team line at some point this season.
However, it might be premature to assume Omiyale won't see the field in 2011.
Although Omiyale dealt with his share of pass protection issues -- he allowed the most sacks of any NFL left tackle in 2010 -- Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice's reluctance to move rookie first round draft pick Gabe Carimi out of the right tackle spot, leaves Omiyale as the next best option currently on the roster on the left side, in the event Webb fails to nail down the job.
Granted, the organization's preference is for Webb to be the left tackle, but it's difficult to completely rule out the Bears eventually making a few changes on the offensive line simply based on all the inexperience up front. Plus, Tice didn't settle on a permanent starting five last year until early November.
"The first thing I think about it last year...a couple of guys went down early and we had to do a rotation," Omiyale said. "Right now, I just got to use this time to better myself and [work on] my skills, get the plays down, because I'm sure my number will be called at some point this year.'
"At first, it was a little weird [being on the second team], but it's part of the game. A decision was made and I feel like I got to get on board. I'm on board and it's all about the team. My first goal is to just make the team this year and go from there."
Omiyale signed a four-year deal prior the 2009 season and made 28 regular season starts at left tackle (14), right tackle (2) and left guard (12). "I don't know what the coaches think or how they feel," Omiyale said. "I just know how to be what I told. I'll be here when they need me.'
"I've had a good camp and the mistakes have been kept to a minimum. But that's what they expect from a veteran and hopefully that gives them the confidence that when they do need me, I'll be ready." (For what? Leading the league in sacks allowed two years running?)

I can't see why Carimi isn't the first option at LT unless Frank's contract is still huge lol
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

"Dealt with his share of pass protection issues"?????????? How about just laying it on the line and saying he plain old fashoined sucked!
It's inconceivable to me that they would trust that LT spot to this bozo again instead of either moving CWill or Carimi there. I'd rather take the chance that one of them could play LT than entrust to be someone who can't again. This is not something any us want to hear. Trade a pick or two, cull the waiver wire but do something. This asshat should be retired not still playing.

I think what mystifies me and a whole lot of other people is that over the past four years we've drafted two first round LT's and neither of them is playing LT. Instead we have a 7th round pick playing the most important spot on the Oline and if he fails all we have behind him is one of the worst FA signings in team history.
Well since it's too late to do much of anything about it now I guess all he can hope is that somehow Webb finally gets it in his head that he's the guy Cutler is counting on to protect him and gives it up body and soul to get it done. I don't even want to think about OMG out there again.

its not too late soul there are stop gap players available that would play on one year deals that I would take over our turds. Steelers didnt give up when both their tackles got hurt last season they went out and got bodies like Flozel Adams.
We can get Brian Waters or Leonard Davis for a one year deal it is better then Louis and Williams can move back to LT

Bad start to two on two: J'Marcus gets smoked on consecutive speed rushes by Julius Peppers.

On third one, J'Marcus withstands a power rush from Peppers, but Chris Williams can't stop Henry Melton

After a bad rep on OL/DL pass rush drills, J'Marcus Webb finally matched Peppers' intensity.

Marcus Harrison with a nice swim move to get around Lance Louis. There you go @CoreyWooton...

So far, d-line is dominating two on two like I haven't seen all camp. Unheralded Nick Reed right around Frank Omiyale.

#Bears o-line coach Mike Tice is awfully quiet...
close your eyes kids our dline is either unreal or or oline is a bunch of turds.......thanks JA

Webb just got a handful of Peppers' jersey on that last matchup.

Lance Louis and Henry Melton using their hands like they're in a karate movie. Lance wins that showdown. #Bears

Ugh... Nick Reed again easily gets around Frank Omiyale. Not good...

It always did sound appealing to me mo but you're preaching to the choir. They've have to be idiots to play OMG at LT again. Hell the guy shouldn't even make the roster. With any other team but the Bears he would have been gone this past spring. He's the OT equivalent of Vernon Gholston only where Gholston's never had a sack, Omiyale has never prevented one, LOL.
I admit that we have a very good pass rushing Dline but when a 248lb undrafted rookie DE is blowing by your 315lb OT without being touched the OT sucks (of course we already knew that). Since there really isn't any LT talent out there your idea of beefing up OG and shifting CWill to LT or moving Carimi over makes the most sense to me. Frankly I'd just flip flop Webb and Carimi to begin with before anything else. Can't believe they haven't at least tried that yet!
I'll bet that Tice's silence speaks volumes right now.
