Unga's Chances to Make the 53 Man Roster Diminish....

Running back Harvey Unga will not travel with the Chicago Bears to New York Sunday evening for the team's second preseason game Monday against the Giants.
Unga, who remains excused for personal reasons according to his agent Eric Metz, missed nearly a week of training camp previously to be with his wife for the birth of the couple's second child. The specific reason for Unga's absence this time is not known. The team has not announced a roster move involving Unga.
The former BYU star returned to camp in time for the Bears' first preseason game and rushed for 27 yards on nine carries, including a nine-yard run where he carried a host of tacklers as offensive linemen pushed him forward.
Unga, who was selected in the supplemental draft last summer with a seventh-round pick, faced an uphill battle to make the roster following the addition of Marion Barber in free agency. He missed all last year after being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring pull.
Now, it's inconceivable the Bears will consider Unga for the 53-man roster. He was excused for a second time beginning with practice Thursday night at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. Considering the time Unga has missed, he might also be hard pressed to push for a spot on the practice squad.

Not good news for Harvey or the Bears but it may save Taylor's bacon at least for a little while. I ws really pulling for this guy after seeing his college highlight video and that run he made last Saturday says a lot about his abilities in short yardage and around the goaline. In a perfect world I could see Bell as Forte's second and Unga as Barber's.
You have to wonder if their are some serious issues at home with his wife or the baby. Unga seems like pretty committed family guy. Remember the reason he got booted from BYU was his premarital relationship with his wife. He was willing to give up football for he before so maybe it comes down to the same thing again.
I hope it all works out for him. I'd like to keep the guy on the team.

Yeah I think he's done unless he sticks to the PS or hid somewhere on IR. At least we will see some more of the power FB's and TE's though.

Did he mean dimmish as in looking dim, or diminish as in to make less or cause to appear less? Hmm, and he gets paid to do this writing stuff?

No, in this case I take potential over productivity. Chester Taylor's 1.9 ypc vs. Unga's ability to literally carry players on his back while running, makes it an easy choice, in my book.

You´re just getting rid of tough guys in the back field so you can control Jay Cutler´s effectivity.

LOL, no that error in the heading is my fault. I caught it but you can't edit the title once it's posted. It was me who was being dimish and not Biggs, hahaha. I'd been up since 4:00AM so by mid afternoon I was fading there for awhile. Sorry!
