So even if we put that one on the O-line, that's what ONE sack?.... obviously we'd like NO sacks but that's a crap ton better than the 9 last year, and the 4 last week.

Webb showed up. I hope they found cleats that fit his size 22 feet. When I see him, I can't help but imagine him playing in sneakers!....lol

Webb did play well. Now let's see some consistency and continuity out of him.

That is the key, it was nice to see him show the talent.
iBut we need to see it a couple more times before I have faith.

Unfortunately, I'd say 3/4 of a season to see his body of work on that side.

I watched Webb very closely and I'd rate his performance as fair, no better. He still has a long way to go before he establishes himself as a LT from what I saw. Even though he didn't give up a sack virtually every hit Cutler took was from his man and the pressure from that side was consistent. Despite what Tice says about his athlecticism what I saw was a guy who doesn't quite know what to do with his feet. His set up is poor and he was frequently off balance and reaching for his man rather than engaging him and steering him around the edge. He also got beat several times by the double move back inside and those were the plays where Cutler took a hit. Smaller quicker guys are still gonna cause him a lot of grief. If he can't lock up on them very quickly and use his size and strength advantage he's gonna get beat a lot.
Conversely Carimi has his pass blocking technique down pat. He sets up quick and always keeps himself centered over his stance and doesn't lose his balance or reach. He was real effective and cutting off the inside rush every time I saw it and he'd real adept at steering his man around the back of the pocket which is exactly what they said his strong point was as far as his pass blocking is concerned. I didn't see one thing about him as far as a pass blocker that wasn't exactly as advertised.
He may not have Webb's athleticism but he's a far more polished pass blocker right now than Webb and he was up against every bit as good a player in Justin Tuck as Webb was in Pierre-Paul. Tice is right. Carimi is gonna be a great RT because he's already a very good one but for now, and until we get a better one who's good to go, we'd be far better off with Carimi on the left side and Webb on the right than the way we have it now. At least that the way I saw it.

I would like to know the metric for Webb's "athleticism". Is it a better bench press, 40 time or 3 cone drill because from what I saw it wasn't footwork he is better than Carimi at.

Absolutely the case. He tap dances instead of setting and mirroring his man and he ends up off balance and reaches rather than engaging and controlling his man. 180 degrees opposite of the technique Carimi uses. Carimi was right. He's probably more prepared to play LT today than any other rookie drafted. I can't understand this obsession Tice has with trying to make a "silk purse" LT our of a "sow ear" Webb this year. Webb was just getting the hang of RT and years end in 2010 and we drafted the most "road ready" LT in the draft yet Tice chooses to reverse them. It makes no sense to me at all. Gabe Carimi is far more prepared to play LT this year than Webb and the switch should be made. In fact it should have begun that way!

No kidding. I saw Carimi do some sweet blocking last week, better than he was against the Bills, for sure. Webb did much better last week against the Giants in all phases, though, so give credit where it's due. Still, he is not as polished, as you like to say, as Carimi, and that may be as a result of his collegiate background at a smaller school than say, Wisconsin.
