Usually I'm on the player's side but .... hearing this ... I think the deal being offered to Forte is good/ fair and he should take it. Briggs' ego just took a blow I guess, so ... they have 2 choices : ante-up a little, or let him go. When the Bears are being fair I side with them. Sounds like they're being fair to me. So c'est la vie to whatever happens from this point forward. Love both guys . But don't get too greedy fellas. jmo

( As an aside : If u put 1mil in the bank, it'll earn u 50,000 in interest a year. Briggs' deal paid him 36mil. Lets make it easy and subtract 6mil for crashed Lamborghinis, food, house payments, cell phone bills etc. Now lets reduce it even more ( agent's cut, taxes ) and say he only has 10mil in the bank. That's still $500,000 dollars in INTEREST every year. Anybody out there who couldn't live happily on $500,000 a year ? Without even TOUCHING the principal ( 10mil ) ? Yeah didn't think so ). Waaaaaaaah my EGO is getting damaged. F'that ! Gimme a break. U got paid ....WELL. So

What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

NO, they already did it with Urlacher some years back so they set a precedent for doing it then and now Briggsy wants the same.

We don't know exactly where everyone is at on the Forte thing since none of the specifics of it are being talked about in public. Now with Briggs it's 180 degrees the opposite. Drew Rosenhaus does everything in the public view. Once they start down this road it doesn't ever go quietly or quickly.

Both sides have their point and I truly hate Drew Rosenhaus' tactics but maybe JA was being penny wise and pound foolish by not swapping Briggs final year for this one and then pushing the whole matter to the offseason. The Bears have both the law and principal going for them but the precedent they set with Urlacher is now coming back to haunt them. It's hard to argue that Briggs isn't every bit the player at WLB that Urlacher is at MLB.

Trade him, get what you can for him now. Let him be someone elses problem...

Not while this is still unfinished business would I trade him. He has a contract and he needs to play this year and play well if he thinks that he's gonna get the "bigger better deal" elsewhere so we should take advantage of that. Then in the offseason I'd have a talk with him and see what would make him happy.

If we can add one year to his currrent deal like we did with Urlacher and hand him some cash so that it averages out $6 mil a year through 2014 and he agrees to that then we can go forward. If that won't do it then yeah, I start shopping him for a 1st round pick so that we can replace him with a younger guy. If we can't get a first for him then I wouldn't let him go.
