One of my best friends attended The Ohio State University and keeps up with former Buckeyes who are in the NFL. He has been particularly interested in Gholston and Sanzenbacher since he knows I'm a Bears fan. (He sort of likes the Cleveland Browns.) He reported to me today that both Gholston and Taylor were being cut while I was on my way home from class. His exact words were: "Well, the Vernon Gholston "experiment" is over. Too bad about all that wasted "talent."
I don't know for sure whether or not it was Gholston's motor not being tuned up to full-speed or what, but he never seemed to get a clue as a pro. I saw too many times where running backs would out flank him and he would go chasing them down the field in a fruitless effort. Also, he couldn't penetrate and get to the quarterback; Buffalo of all teams proved to be too much for him to handle. If that is the case with him, he has no business in the NFL. I don't know if he even played in any other games after the Bills preseason. Maybe he did against the Giants, but if he did, he didn't make any other kind of impression on anybody other than the fact that he is one big pile of suck.
