Well for starters at the very least they can get him a 6'3" WR whose name isn't Roy Williams. After than I'd say he needs an Oline that can both protect him and who Forte or whoever can also run behind. With that and the luck of staying healthy at key positions we can get to and win a Super Bowl almost anytime now. We got close last year and although JA hasn't done much to improve the offense he hasn't made it any worse either.
Lovie greatest asset is that his team lays it on the line for him and his worst asset is his game day coaching. That alone could prevent a Super Bowl appearance with a timeout at the wrong time or a lack of one at the right time. Some things get better but that never does.

I'm sick of so called professional writers harping on Cutler's INTs. He had 16 last year! And 4 of those was in one games. And ther were plenty that werent his fault (Knox NEVER fights for the ball or shield the defender from it.)
He'll throw more TDs (over 30) and about the same or fewer INTs.

Cutler is a media whipping boy and all he needs to do is perform well and he'll finally shut them up but it won't happen immediately. When John Elway was drafted and refused to sign with Baltimore (Indy) who drafted him he got a similar treatment. Remember this long before Prince Eli of Manning did much the same. When Elway struggled for his first few years the media loved to go after him everywhere but here. So Cutler, because of demanding to be traded gets similar treatment.
The saddest thing about it is these jock wannabe's or never wases continue to write about things they understand so little about and in many cases are far too lazy to research thoroughly. As you point out 4 of Cutler's picks came on one horrid afternoon and how many others off of tipped passes that just missed connecting. You have to watch a player before you can adequately evaluate him and most of these guys are lucky if they've ever seen him play more than a half dozen time yet they write about him because everyone does.
This guy was more fair and more on target as far as the issues are concerned than most.

I'll skip the crappy attention grabber article and just answer the question plain and simple....
Yes, yes he can.

I think Cutler's awful 2009 red zone performance is what writers think of at all times when writing about Cutler. The guy actually had a VERY good year last year considering his woeful O-line and not-that-good play-calling from Martz. And we don't have all-pros at receiver either.
I think a second year in Martz's system and an apparently improved O-line will do wonders for Jay. And don't underestimate the impact Marion Barber will have. We now have a legitimate backup who's not just in there to burn plays while Forte rests and he's also a good goal-line runner and blocker. I think Jay will have a Pro-Bowl caliber year. But being that the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest and Jay's the most hated QB in the game.....

yes he can win the SB. But a QB alone will never win the SB - football is a team sports and if there is only 1 player that is good, you won't win anything

Lovie lacks the ability to make decisions that will win a big game. I would say we have won a bunch of games based on luck vs Lovie making a decision that involves change. He his so stubbon on recognizing plays that don't work yet he will continue to keep a qb in a game that is struggling real bad. We have seen this with Grossman, Orton and Jay through out the years. I will say his challenges did improve last year but his timeing of calling time outs was bad.

Think about this: his 3 offensive coordinators have all hindered the QB; the first one ran a shittier version of Martz attack, that didn't allow the QB to call audibles and gave up the most sacks that season. Ron Rivera kept going deep all the time with grossman, rather than work on his short game, after he was figured out. Not only that, but Griese essentially called him out when he marched the Bears 99 yards down the field and told reporters that his ear piece had broken, and well, Martz runs a shitty version of Martz attack that doesn't allow the QB to call audibles and gives up the most sacks in a season.
