01:06 – After an offseason of talk about the Super Bowl champion Packers and the up-and-coming Lions, Sterling Sharpe reminds us not to overlook the reigning NFC North champion Bears.
Defensively Bears are who we thought they were (note - no podium slap)
Jay Cutler and the offense have matched intensity of Defense and 22-0 with passer rating of 100+.
670 pointed out that Lovie has an absurdly high winning percentage when the Bears keep the oppoenents under 18 pts also, and considering how bad our O's are that it's all that more impressive. Said, and I agree, if the O can just be around average in the league(15 or so) that they will be hard to stop.
Cutler now understands that it's more important to efficient than it is to be spectacular. Rate over 100, he wins.
how dare the media like the bears
Once again, proof to the naysayers, that this team has enough talent to beat anybody ..... and actually do it handily. You wonder what they're thinking sometimes.
I guess the knock comes from being inconsistent sometimes .... or maybe not being AS consistent as some teams. If they can truly put that to rest, then this is a top 5 team IMO. We'll see what happens.
Here's the deal, it's been a while since the Bears have had that kind of convincing win over a mostly healthy favorite this early in the year. That will garner respect and attention; and it has, even from the national media. If we follow it up w/another big win on Sunday, it will be another huge bump. If we beat either Det or GB after that, even if we lose to one of them, it will be a bigger bump then the downgrade from the loss. That's what winning in convincing fashion to healthy good teams does for you.
I've said in the past, the media does not want to hate the Bears, it's a huge media market which means easy money for them saying good things about us; but there has been little to no reason to really garner that year in year out respect. We go 4-1 this year you will get it in spades.
Bears D : big, play fast, play physical, force turnovers, 'exactly who we thought they were..."
Cutler : surprised that he matched the intensity and efficiency of the D, is 22 - 0 when his passer rating is 100+.
Team : defending NFC champions didn't have to go far to prove they are to be considered in the mix of good teams.
