Woe be to any Saints coming over the middle...
I kind of figured he would want to come back and be surrounded by the support of his teammates.

A heavy heart, to be sure.
Condolences to him and his family.
When is the last time anyone heard about Urlacher holding out for a new deal? Never, as far as I know. The man is model NFL player. I wish we had 52 other players just like him.
He actually kicked up a fuss to get an extension on his current contract. I know he missed voluntary team workouts... I forget if he missed any real practices though. At any rate, some think the precedent the Bears set with Urlacher has given Briggs the idea that he can do the same.
I'm not questioning Url's dedication to the team or calling him a bad guy, just correcting the notion that he hasn't had a contract dispute.
It's going to be interesting this Sunday, to the say the least. I lost a family member during high school when I was in basketball and I can't explain it, but it's like you kick into a different gear. I know he will be dedicating this game to his mother and he will be going through a ton of emotion.
This situation combined with that of Kruetz puts a couple of interesting sub-plots in place for Sunday.
