Mike Martz will cost us a couple of games
Everyone wants to blast the OL and blame our favorite target J'Marcus Webb, but the truth is that NO Oline could be successful in the situation that they were put in.
When you run the ball 11 times and pass 49 times the opposing team can simply pass rush all game long and they can blitz mutliple defenders with impunity. When this happens an OL of Pro Bowlers would be in trouble.
You need to run the ball for no other reason then to allow your OLmen to come off the ball and slow down the rush.
What Martz did was get caught up in his own vanity and hang out the OL and Jay Cutler. The OL is not devoid of blame, but they had no chance of being successful in that game.
Mike Martz as a coach will cost us a couple of game every season. He cannot help himself and it happened last year when we played the NY Giants and Seattle during the regular season.
This is one of the games that Mike Martz is going to cost us this season and I would be prepared that Philadelphia will be the other game that he costs us.

I agree with this Windy. I think there's a lot of misplaced blame heading in the direction of the o-line. I'm not denying they need improvement, but in my opinion the bigger problems were not on the o-line.
The OL and Cutler were set up to fail with that play calling. When the defensive rusher can pin their ears back and charge upfield without thinking, it's tough.
Also, why is Kellen Davis is going one on one against a blind side DE? WTF is that? Very few TEs can take on that assignment and Kellen is not a good blocker at this point. He's large and I think a lot of fans think assume he's a good blocker because of that. He shouldn't be stuck with that assignment.
I blame Martz first and then the receivers. Remind me again why we didn't pursue a free agent WR with a somewhat proven track record of performance... or at least a guy who can run a route and get open?

He will cost us the Philadelphia game for sure and he will probably cost us a Green Bay game at some point.
He cannot help himself and that is why he has been fired by half of the league, he is just never going to be consistent. If he could stop doing things like this he would still be in St. Louis.

Lovie on play-calling imbalance: 'We'll clean it up'

The Chicago Bears' play-calling got so far out of balance Sunday that coach Lovie Smith has pledged to “clean it up.”
Offensive coordinator Mike Martz called only 11 running plays in a 30-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints and the Bears had just 12 rushing attempts -- including one scramble by quarterback Jay Cutler -- the second-fewest rushes in a game in franchise history.
“I know the balance as far as running/passing wasn’t there,” Smith said. “All I can say is we’ll get it better. We can’t win football games with that kind of balance.”
Martz called 52 passes (45 pass attempts, six sacks, one scramble) and 11 runs, more one-sided than anything he did last year in the first half of the season when the Bears regularly ignored the running game.
Matt Forte had a 42-yard run on his second carry of the game against the Saints, the pivotal play in an 87-yard touchdown drive that staked the Bears to a 7-0 lead. He got eight carries the rest of the game and just one in the second half.
Asked if he was surprised, Forte said, "Surprised? Yeah. Ten rushes is not really a whole lot."
With 10:02 remaining in the third quarter, the Bears trailed 16-13 and there had been 29 passes called and 10 runs.

Webb is a frickin bum that is why we tried to sign to OTs in FA but failed with both. Marts play calling stunk but doesnt change the fact Webb is a bonafide garbage LT in the league.
I stand by what I said about him from last season going on to this season Webb=Q Mitchel 2.0

Martz's play calling should cost him his job...

A good coach looks at his players and amplifies their talents, not put them in situations where they will fail. Martz knows the o-line is less than an Arena caliber line and the WR's are inconssitant. He needs to get involved and demand personel that will work for his style offense, until then change your style of offense to fit the players you have in front of you. Right now Marty ball is looking like Turner ball. It didn't work last year it is not going to work this year.
Without weaponz it's just another airline!

Webb is getting moved along too quickly, I'm not dubbing him a bum. It's way too early to call him a bum. There's no way he's Q Mitchell. If it's anyone, Omiyale is the second coming of Q Mitchell. Actually, Q Mitchell was even worse than Omiyale. I think you forget just how bad he was.
Honestly, what do you expect from a 7th round project? On most other teams, where the o-line doesn't repeatedly remain an afterthought for years, Webb is probably still learning, maybe... maybe fighting for a starting RT spot. Trial by fire for him, I guess.

I just don't want to hear ever that Martz is a genius. A mad genius would work on contingency plans for the OL. A genius would try his flair in the other direction-ever see him call a game where the team he coached basically just RAN the whole time? No Martz is a pass-specialist nothing more nothing less.
A true genius can improvise, adapt, and overcome. Using the tools he has not forcing a screwdriver to become an impact wrench. Jay won't survive the season if there aren't any adjustments let alone audibles.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Jerry Angelo is a bum, he is the reason we are in this position to fail on offense. He best pick in the draft is gone for a month and his top WR is injured garbage. How can anybody expect this offense to be successful if Jay has no weapons other than Matt Forte. We can't run the ball worth a crap. Take away Matts 42 yard run and you have 9 carries for 7 yards. Second why is Tice not getting his ass handed to him for constantly changing the OL. Why is J. Webb still playing because he can't block worth a shit. Like Motownbear said he is garbage.
