It was no mystery Kreutz was on a downslide yet for years never prepared for it. When your punter makes more then the average salary of our olinemen it just shows where our investments go. Offense just isnt going to happen under JA here we just have to deal with it.
And this is what makes his comment about satisfaction with these eight such bullshit. Who were his two prime targets in FA and what positions do they play. Bushrod at LT and Colon at RT or more likely he'd have been shifted to RG since they had Carimi already pegged for RT and they had to know that handing LT to Webb at this point wasn't the best idea in the world.
The two positions you highlight mo are exactly the two he was looking to upgrade and struck out. He failed to do the two most important things on his list when FA started. Get an experienced young LT to compete with Webb and improve the interior pass blocking. Does everyone remember his comments about finding OT's who can play OG? That was Willie Colon.
Mo I think he did know that Olin's skills were in decline but his plan to replace him was Garza all along. That wasn't some rabbit he pulled out of his hat after the fact. I think that's exactly why he went after Colon. To replace Garza at RG if he moved him to OC. That's a pretty good tipoff that he wasn't comfortable with Louis either. I think when Lovie and the boys leaned on him to keep Kruetz he figured he would but only at his price which is why he drew the line. He already had Plan B in place. Too bad he didn't have a Plan B in place when he lost out on Bushrod and Colon.
Mo, I think the reason he didn't is because he never expected to be turned down by both of them. Not once did it dawn on him that he's trying to steal two good young lineman from good teams. Teams with just as strong of a chance at a Super Bowl shot as the Bears and maybe better. This was not like taking Peppers away from the Panthers where he wanted to leave anyway. This is where JA's arrogance and lack to common sense did him in and now he wants us to believe that it's no big deal? This was the plan all along!!!!!
He and his HC are a perfect fit for one another. Neither one of them has a clue about how to field and keep a championship level team every year. Watch the injuries and lack of depth eat us alive this year and once again we sink back to the middle of the pack. I hope not but it sure has the looks of it from here.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

If only we could get Angelo into pads at RT ...
THEN he'd realize we need to do more then token drafting at OL.
5 draft picks ... one OL ...3 Defense ... one QB. ?? WTF ???
Oh ... we brought in wounded Cowboys to help the Offense.
In my FFL 16 team ... I can pick up Knox,Hester,Sanzenbacher, and Williams.
Thats not a ringing endorsement of confidence.
This in a league that is mostly BEARS fans.
BTW Chris Spencer played CENTER at Seattle ... cant we work him in at FB or TE?
Angelo would approve.

Just glad it's not Cutler.
With this crap line, giving up 11 sacks in the first two games, that can not be too far off.

Hey, the "great" Mike Tice said it would take two games to get the line working. He did not get two games. Now we have to start over.... and then we can wait to see how long it will take...

Since this line can not run block for him, once we lose Cutler we will lose Forte. He already cant run, we lose Forte and there goes his pass catching.

This is the line that gets me, "We brought in a player with a lot of NFL experience who is still in his prime.", who could not crack the starting line up of this piece of shit OL. Really? He gets the start cause of an injury. Can anyone see ANYBODY from the OL starting anywhere else in the league. JA quit pissing on my back and telling me its raining. Does JA eally believe his own crap? WOW.

Soul, I'm going to join you and and 4th in the "I hate Jerry" fan club as well. I can't believe that the man actually had balls to sit by supine and pontificate to the mass media that the Chicago Bears did all it could to build the best offensive line that it could. Angelo, as far as I know, had top ten OLs in 2006 and either 2005 or 2008 (can't remember which one), and the rest of the time, we've been sorely lacking in run blocking and pass protection.
Jerry Angelo has to be the worst general manager in the league. While he doesn't own the Chicago Bears, he reminds me a little, but not completely, of all the stories I ever heard about Bill Wirtz in that he operates on the cheap side when it comes to acquiring talent at especially the skill positions. Wirtz was a lot worse, let's not forget, but Angelo, like Wirtz with the Blackhawks before him, controls the purse strings in terms of what we are willing to pay our athletes. He let go a 6 time Pro-Bowler in Olin Kreutz who still had some steam in the engine all because he didn't want to pay him an edition $400,000. Now he's with the Saints, and he beat the hell out of us last Sunday. He didn't go after Sidney Rice, although now it looks like a wise decision in hindsight. And, as you said, Soul, he failed to secure an additional OLman or two in free agency. The Bears had plenty of money to dole out to pay for OLmen, yet I'm sure they didn't make these players offers that they couldn't refuse. It's sickening, and sadly, it's going to reflect poorly on the coaching staff as well as the current players who are putting their best foot forward.
So, the only thing I have left to say is, "F*CK YOU, Jerry!" You really outdid yourself this time.

As much as I hope Carimi's recovery is lightning quick, worst case senario please let him return before the Bucs game in London. The likes of BearFanNate, ExileBear68, Flea, myself and all the rest of Bears fans over the pond didn't wait twenty five fucking years for the Bears to come back only to see Omiyale starting on this shitfest of an offensive line.
Can we be the UK arm of the I Hate Jerry Angelo club? LOL

I wouldnt worry too much Cornish...if we can beat the Falcons, then we should be able to beat the Buccs, even with Omiyale in place of Carimi.
Oh yeah...and if you guys are going/meeting up at the game, make sure to take pics and post em here...im sure most of us would be interested in seeing them

I can't wait until we beat the pack and the board goes back to optimism.

Will do. The photos should be pretty good, there's a big bunch of us with tickets together on the Bears sideline. Shame Angelo will be hidden away in the executive suites, out of swearing distance.
