I honestly think it's why there are so many high draft pick busts at QB. They are drafted by bad teams and have to learn the NFL game behind porous blocking and subpar positional threats. It's not that all those guys "suck", it's that the teams that draft them, ruin them.
I doubt know....whereas I agree JA and this coaching staff aren’t doing Jay any favors...I don’t buy that anyone is ruining Jay, other than Jay himself...sure, Jay has taken his fair share of hits/sacks, but its freckin’ football....if Jay is ruined because he’s taken a few more sacks then average QB, then, sorry to say, he wasn’t much to begin with...Rogers took 50 sacks in '09, did that ruin him?

Patiently waiting for Jay to prove my delusions incorrect...despite what everyone keeps telling me, I have yet to see, first hand, the intangibles in Jay, that supposedly makes a great QB....brains, toughness, leadership, heart...don't get me wrong, I would love to see it...I just haven't yet, and I fear I never will...yesterday, was a prefect opportunity; that game was clearly winnable...winnable for a supposedly great QB, even with all the problems that face this team...

I learned :
- that Mike McCarthy has turned into a great coach. Back in 06 when he was hired, I had an older co-worker who was a lifelong die-hard Packers fan ... so much so that, a couple years later when he retired, he moved to GB to be closer to his beloved Packers. But back in 06 I said to him " Mike McCarthy ? " He agreed and said that alot of Packers fans saw him as a stop-gap hiring till they could " figure out a more big name guy ". McCarthy has had his struggles, but, because he was hungry and worked his ass off, right now he one of the best. My co-worker admitted he underestimated him.
- if this turns into a crappy season, I hope the Bears make the changes they need to, even if it means hiring a 'no name' coach and GM. People who are young , bright , and hungry ... cuz you never know.
- Halas Hall has turned into blase' land, the players are playing like it, and I've got this sinking feeling that it's not gonna change w/o an infusion of hungry, new blood at GM and HC. Too many people who are too comfortable ( with each other ) and too complacent about the product they are putting on the field ( the " Ah we're good enough, we win enough games " mentality ). Yea, you've won alot of games, but you haven't won THE game.
- It's been 25 years. At this rate, it's gonna be 25 more.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Problem is as long as the seats are sold you will not get change cause the penny pinching owners main income is the team. They aren't savvy business people. For every corner they cut that is am extra dividend in their pocket.

Did Aaron Rodgers morph into an elite QB the first game he had mere mediocre blocking? Because that seems to be what you're expecting of Cutler.
I'm not sold on Culter 100% either. But I've seen enough to know he CAN be a good QB. But it will never materialize until he can confidently look down the field without fearing he will get his brains bashed in. And that clearly is not the case yet....one mediocre pass protection game notwithstanding.

It's like ... OK we know the other side has tanks, but you guys only get trucks. Now go out there and stop them !!! Rah,rah, rah. Oh sorry Jay you were run over by a tank ? Rub some dirt on it and GET BACK IN THERE AND MAKE US PROUD !!
" Jerry I'm getting killed back there. Can I have some tanks too ?"
" Tough spit we only buy those for the defense".
" Oh, ok thanks alot. I'll do my best ".

I am 27 years old.
Jerry Angelo is 62ish.
I am hoping that I can out live him and enjoy the Bears without him.

Yeah, i think he is a good QB as well, but he is also human. I believe all these hits he is taking is shaking his confidence to the point where he is making dumb decisions and poor throws. He probably has the best arm (accuracy and distance) of any QB in the league, but his decision making is whats killing him...whether its him holding the ball WAY too long (nothing wrong with throwing it away!!), or its throwing off his back foot, overthrowing WRs...its the same thing: decisions.
He isnt a rook QB, so he doesnt lack fundamentals, he isnt a college QB so he doesnt need to work on his mechanics like Tebow, i think its all in his head. And the best way to build confidence is with a good OL and a legit #1 WR. If we ever got those 2 things for him, i think we would see a marked improvement in Jay.

Morph? We didn’t draft a caterpillar, we supposedly bought a butterfly....
Hey, I am not trying to throw Jay under the bus...I am not saying bench him, or trade or cut him, or even not resign him....sadly, he may, in fact, still be the best QB the Bears have had since Luckman (faint praise as that may be)....I am just done buying into the hype that he’s an elite QB and have serious doubts he’ll ever will be one, regardless of plays being called, the Line in front of him, or the WRs he’s throwing to... elite QBs step up in the face of adversity; they show something even if everything else around them isn’t perfect; they don’t fold like a cheap tent when things get a little tough...Cutler may have “the best arm in the league,” but physical abilities alone does not make an elite QB...John Miller may be the Long Drive Champ, but that doesn’t make him an elite golfer...
Not to beat the Rodgers horse into the ground (although I do like the thought of beating Rodger into the ground), but when Rodgers was taking those league leading 50 sacks in ’09, he still managed to throw 30 TDs with only 7 INTs....that’s what I expect out of an elite QB....Yeah, yeah, Rodgers had better coaching, better WRs, better everything....still, he was on him to keep his composure in the face of the beating he taking as the result of “mediocre blocking”...he kept his fundamentals, he kept his proper mechanics, he kept making smart football decisions....that’s what elite QBs do....that’s what I asked and expect out of Cutler...exactly what I am NOT seeing out of Jay...
Maybe I was watching a different game Sunday....but that game was winnable; we were never really out of until the very end....in my mind, that game was precisely the reason we supposedly bought Jay to Chicago...I mean, shit that was the type of game Jay is suppose to win for us! If Cutler can’t win those games; can’t even show up for those games, then the Bears might as well have saved their money...
