What we learned GB/Chicago
They're just flat better then the Bears. Other then, maybe, Forte Chicago doesn't have an player on O that could start of GB. And GB has guys on D that could start for the bears D, and ST's. Their deeper to; they were missing starters also, did it look like it to you? I couldn't tell.
Our O. Wow, they might actually be worse then last year; and we supposedly made "improvements". Spencer is no guard, he looked bad. C-Dub cannot pull apparently. Garza got exposed. Omy would have exept he's been exposed for a couple years now they did do a good job of protecting Cutler, but at the expense of destroying Forte; one guy in the chat said it best; it's like Tice can only teach them how to pass block or run block in a given week; their not capable of doing both in said week.
The WR's, there are teams that none of them could be bench players on; and only part players on others. It would be a rare team in the NFL that they could be starters. TE's, I thought we traded Olsend b/c he wasn't Ditka; who did we have on this team that was? Davis? Spaeth? Could you imagine if we had a OC that was creative enough to look at NE and had decided that you can win w/using 2 TE's on O; to both block and use in the passing attack? How the hell did you come up w/a game plan that you gave up the kind of ToP the way they did; how did you come up w/a gameplan that was apparently lets get scores fast or fail so that our D will get beat to crap? Olsen/Davis could have left D's frusterated and confused on what to do. Then again, this OC is still trying to live off 2 decades ago offense that he thinks was more him then the 4+ HoF'rs he had on it.
QB; 3 games in, he's lost all the mechanics he worked all offseason on; he's scared the minute he takes the snap, and his balls are sailing constantly, and he's just tossing the balls anywhere just to get rid of it. He did show his arm/accuracy a few times this game. He did show he has some Rex Grossman in him; w/some horrid plays in the RZ.
RB, Forte looked like shit today; then agian if you get hit the moment you take the ball from the qb, so would any rb in the history of the NFL, Sanders included. He again showed he can play the Faulk role by catching out of the backfield all the same, but it was apparent he was not going to get a lot of looks. The team obviously knew that GB was going to key on him and shut him down; and they did.
Our D. Started slow, finished dead; looked decent through most the middle though. I don't put a lot of blame on them though, the O did nothing but 3 and out's, ToP had to be 2 to 1 for GB. and if you give that Offense that much time they are going to score, and your D is going to get tired. They tried w/2 late TO's but the O had already given up. Again little to no push from the Middle of the DL, again our DB's got burned b/c of it. Again no in game adjustments to create pressure from a LB or DB; definition of insanity...say it w/me now, you know it. Melton is Manderson, he had a good game and is nothing that special. We have and outside rusher on the DL, and 2 playmaking LB's, and one decent corner in Tillman and the rest are crap. This D cannot stop a running game or passing game; and god forbid they see a team like GB that has both. This D is completely predicated on TO's, and teams know it, and the smart ones just teach the players to play it safe, and cover the ball and we'll win. And it's true, our two late TO's came when the game was over. This bend but don't break, breaks if we don't get a TO; and that is a poor gameplan.
This team is 3rd best in this div. and that's only b/c of how completely lousy Minnisota is. The lions are for real; that D and that O combined was put together in a matter of 2-3 years, and make what JA has done in the draft/FA look pathetic. GB is for real; they have talented starters and great depth. I'm sick from watching this game; thank god we get a creampuff in Carolina next week.
