Yeah, at some point in time Ted Phillips has to sit down with Angelo and discuss the facts as they stand. During his tenure we've built a championship team twice yet we've failed to win the Super Bowl and it wasn't because of the defense in either instance.
As good as our defense usually is if we could just consistently produce the 16th best offense in the NFL we'd be in the playoffs and competing for a championship every year. We haven't been able to do this and when the GM claims that we did all we could this offseason to upgrade our most obvious offensive weaknesses then it's clear he's lost touch with reality.

You're using a VIDEO GAME SIMULATION as proof of... well... anything?
Here... I can show you how off the wall, terrible and likely to be wrong a computer simulation is compared to reality no matter how you program it.

Well as much as i love Jay Cultler he gets as many sacks because he holds onto the ball to long, our O-line looked like a average line in the Nfl against the Packers, thats great for them. first sack was on CW on a incorrect assignment, the Jay had next two on him one he had forte in the flat, but wanted to find a guy deep, one was a coverage sack where no one was open. If our wides outs stoped with the gators arms or (te Davis) just let them bounce of his chest pad. No one is going to make every catch, but everyone brsides Sanzanbacer (yhea no clue how it spell it) who looked great. In fact i would love to see Sanzenbacher,Knox,Bennett with 4th being hester or williams.

for the same reason KO and Rex could never succeed, the OL is unstable at best, and the WR's are not reliable. So even if the OL does protect them(which is rare) they either feel the need to dump off two quickly or hold onto the ball to long b/c they don't trust the wr's to be where they need to be, or adjust to save the pass. It leds to them relying on the TE or RB far too much which is going to eventually stall out as the opposing D starts to adjust.
Speaking of that foreign word to the Bears; they refuse to do it while in the game; and many times after games. Lovie's major issue is his stubborness to his philosophy and his unwillingness to bend from it. This puts the team in a constant state of all or nothing football. Either the scheme works from start to finsih w/out the other coach finding the right adjustment or we get beat b/c they did find it.

On one hand I agree w/Wolfman as I haven't seen Jay being a competent qb. On the other Jay is being wrecked like an up and coming prize-fighter. You have to rebuild his confidence, then his technique, then determine what other intangibles he has in order to build upon it.
But being a team sport football gives extra problems. Your not only putting him in tough situations but the surrounding talent has been sub-par for so long the best you'll see is a mixed bag. With the season so young you can't bench him to bring him back slowly as it would effect both his psyche and the team. So then what you could do is make it a running team again.
....and we're back to 2007

It's not about the proof or lack of it it's just one way to demonstrate a point that you may not agree with since you're a Packer fan but I would contend that it's probably true. Put Aaron Rodgers on the Bears in this offense and see what his numbers look like. Take Cutler and let him work under McCarthy and with those receivers. I'm willing to bet you Cutler would be playing in the Pro-Bowl and Rodgers would be watching from home.
The part of the article that dealt with that was just there as an illustration of the point the writer was trying to make. When Cutler played here in Denver, under Mike Shanahan and Jeremy Bates, and with some decent pass blocking he was a Pro-Bowl QB. Under Mike Martz he isn't and the main reason is that offense doesn't suit his game with the talent he has to work with. It wouldn't suit Aaron Rodgers either and I think that's all the simulation was trying to show.
Picking out one fact like Roy Williams actually catching a pass doesn't invalidate the basic point of the comparison.

Shorty what you, Wolf and some of the others may forget is that I watched him play every week when he was here in Denver and he was actually more advanced in his third year here than he is now in his sixth year in Chicago. Jay Cutler is a far better QB than he showing right now and if I could fault him for anything it's saying "Fvck Martz" in his head and going out and getting the job done. He needs a little Jim McMahon in him right now. What are they gonna do, bench him for insubordination?
By now you can tell that he no longer believes this offense will work with the guys he has at his disposal. You can see it because he's finally beginning to say things to them on the field, express his frustration on the bench and if there's any truth to it, in the lockeroom after the game as well. I can imagine Williams coming up to him either with an excuse or pleading for the ball and Jay telling him to start catching the ones he gets and maybe he'll get more. He's no confidence in him and a limited amount in the others with the exception of Earl Bennett and maybe Sanz as his replacement. You can see who he looks for on the goaline.
This team needs to get Jay Cutler better tools to work with before I'll criticize his play beyond the fact that sometimes he should just throw the ball away. He doesn't like to because he's a bit of a gunslinger and he believes in himself but the real question now is whether or not he believes in anyone else including his idiot OC.

I agree with your assessment on cutler soul I have Sunday ticket and watched him often. Being bereft of NFL caliber offense here for so long whenever bears games are done I usually watch patriot games and dream one day we can have am offense we can count on. I watched cutler cause he was my favorite player in that draft. What a shocker he comes to the team where offensive talent dies and he starts to regress. From turners nonsense to practice squad talent on oline to delusions of not needing reliable wr targets to hiring an oc that needs problem talent to succeed all play a huge roll and only one person you can point the finger to

Mo it's because Jerry Angelo always does half a job then tries to take credit for a whole one and that's why he should be fired. Spending big time bucks on Julius Peppers wasn't all that needed to be done to improve the pass rush but he got lucky, and I do mean lucky, when Melton stepped up big time and Okoye as let go.
How could you plan on a 4th round 260lb DE and former RB taking over for Tommie Harris? But after the fact he'd like us to believe we had the guy scouted with that in mind all along. Would he have drafted Paea if we'd signed Okoye and AA before the draft? Probably not and as it stands Paea can't beat out any of the other four. That's nothing against Paea it just goes to how good the others are playing.
Same thing on the offense. He spends multiple draft choices and mucho millions on a franchise QB because he couldn't draft one and then surrounds him with second rate talent. Guys that are decent enough but not the kind of playmakers this offense needs to be good. Angleo seems to understand that about the defense but loses that concept when it comes to the offense.
Then he avoids going after a big time #1 WR like a Sidney Rice and settles for a guy everyone in the league agrees is a wasted player who will never play to his true potential. His excuse? We pay Devin Hester #1 type money and that isn't even true. He's only making around $6.8 mil in salary and bonus this year which is a very long way from 2010 cost of a franchise tag ($9.521 mil) About $12 mil of his $40.975 mil extension deal comes in 2013 and unless he does become a #1 WR he'll never see it. He'll either renegotiate or he'll be gone. "Ridiculous" won't last forever now that the kickoffs have been moved up.
Same thing with the Oline. It's ridiculous how little more it may have taken to make offers to Bushrod and Colon that they couldn't refuse. Hell, Bushrod only got a $9.5 mil two year extension so had we offered him a 5 year deal with a decent amount guaranteed we probably could have had him. Same with Colon. $3 mil more over 5 years non-guaranteed wasn't gonna be enough to pry him away from that offense into this one. What JA has to get through his head is that whereas he can pick up defensive guys who want to play here at bargain rates he has to pay a premium on the offensive side of the ball and he won't do that.
In a way it's like Ditka only on a larger scale. Remember how DaCoach always said that QB's were overrated in the scheme of things? I believe Jerry now feels that the entire offense, other than the QB, is overrated in the scheme of things. I know if DB54 was still here we'd be duking it out over this but I have lost what little confidence I had in Jerry Angelo this year and once that happens it won't come back very easily.
I'm now on the side of the fence that says until we do a house cleaning at the top and get a guy to run football operation who knows winning football like a Mike Homlgren or a Bill Polian this team will never make it to another Super Bowl. We'll always be a day late and a dollar short offensively just like always.
I refuse to be all that critical of Jay Cutler until this team gets him the talent he needs to succeed. As it stands the entire offense is on the shoulders of him and Matt Forte and that just ain't enough offensive strength to field a championship caliber team.
