I'm with you but somehow Ted Phillips seems to disagree with us. At least that's what I believe he was quoted as saying.

What a rush: Forte makes case on field for new deal

When you join Hall of Famers Walter Payton and Gale Sayers as the only Bears running backs ever to rush for 200 yards in a game, you’re big-time in Chicago.

The Chicago Sun Times highlighted Matt Forte‘s career-high 205-yard game against the Panthers with a distinct Chi-Town headline on its cover that WWE fans can certainly appreciate. Speaking of appreciation, Forte has made it clear that he’s not feeling it from Bears GM Jerry Angelo. Forte isn’t happy about playing out the final year of his rookie contract for $600,000. He wants a new deal — sooner rather than later. Can you blame him?

Forte is second in the NFL only to Wes Welker for yards from scrimmage with 634 (by one yard, too). His value to the Bears, with their crappy offensive line and correlating inconsistency from QB Jay Cutler, is ridiculous — definitely more than $600,000. Still, Forte said Monday that negotiations have been dead between his camp and the Bears.

“Currently we haven’t really been talking,” Forte said on ESPN 1000-AM. “After some of the games my agent has called them a few times, but no progress has really been made since then. But hopefully today or this week they will be talking again.”

Based on his comments Monday on “Around the League”, Heath Evans probably can’t understand, either, what’s taking so long for Angelo to pony up the cash. “Any team in the league would die to have this back,” Evans said. “He catches the ball, he protects his quarterback, he understands route combinations, he understands how he fits into each and every play. (We're asking the same thing Heath)

You watch this kid play on a Sunday afternoon, he knows what’s going on. And that’s rare. “A lot of backs just want to get the ball and take off. This kid studies the game. He knows what he’s seeing, and he knows how to exploit defenses. … This offense, this defense, this team is tied to his success.”

Coming off the most productive game of his career, Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte admitted Monday his contract situation with the team has been a distraction, and the two sides are way off in their talks.

"It's always going to be a distraction because I'm not a robot; I'm human," Forte said Monday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "I try to put it out of my mind sometimes. I go out every day on the practice or game field I'm focused on playing football, I'm not worried about that. But it is a distraction sometimes and you can't help but think about it a lot."

Forte is signed through this season and hoped to have an extension worked out before Week 1. After failing to reach an agreement, Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said on Sept. 5 that the two sides agreed to table the talks until the end of the season.

"Currently we haven't really been talking," Forte said. "After some of the games my agent has called them a few times but no progress has really been made since then. But hopefully today or this week they will be talking again."

Forte said his camp and the Bears were "pretty far off" the last time they talked.

"It was pretty easy to me looking at the comparisons of production-wise around the league," said Forte, who leads NFL running backs in total yards per game (158.5). "And like I've said in many interviews before, this league is based on production, and my production is up there with the top running backs, elite level. I just really don't think they think that I'm at that level (or) that I'm that type of player. Our numbers were way off on that point."

A week after finishing with two yards on nine carries, Forte rushed for a career-high 205 yards in a 34-29 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Since entering the NFL in 2008 as a second-rounder out of Tulane, Forte ranks fifth in the NFL in yards from scrimmage (4,731) behind Tennessee's Chris Johnson, Minnesota's Adrian Peterson, Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew and St. Louis' Steven Jackson

A Bears source told ESPNChicago.com's Michael Wright in September that the team had offered Forte a deal worth $13-14 million guaranteed.

Asked if a prolonged negotiation could sour his feeling toward the Bears, Forte said: "I don't want to be the guy that holds grudges but it always sticks in the back of your mind, things like that. It's the ugly side of the business. The NFL is a business, and that's the ugly side of it. I just want to be somewhere I'm valued as a player."

How many more people are gonna have to say it and how many more games like Sunday will Matt Forte have to play before Angelo gets over "stupid" and signs the guy to an extension. They tell him he's not an elite back and not worth the $21 mil DWill was guaranteed and he just goes out and outgains DWill nine ways to Sunday.

We've got Minny coming up and if he does the same against AP is Angelo still gonne be afflicted by "stupid". Matt Forte gets more expensive as weeks go by. He probably passed on buying gold at $600 an ounce claiming it was too expensive and he'd just wait until it got under $400 an ounce again. Probably passed on buying stocks in the 80's too

Yeah, honestly, how can he not be valued as a #1 or 2 back in this league? This past game alone, he ran for more yards than Chris Johnson ran for ALL SEASON. Pay him like he now deserves, Jerry. He's a Marshall Faulk, and without him our entire team collapses, regardless of who's behind center. Whatever CJ is making, pay him more, and maybe even more than AP..

It was about this time last year that marts got his nuts clipped and we began running the ball. It's really what got them (surprisingly) tightened up as a team, even the defense played better after the O got on track

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The league is pass heavy nowadays but this shift does not change the affect of a effective running game for a team. It's the same as it always has been. When you're able to run on your opponent you:

    * Wear out the opposing Defense more rapidly.
    * Eat up larger amounts of clock, effectively giving the oposing team less offensive opportunities.
    * Give your own Defensive unit more rest.

If we could find a way to gash Green Bay with the run, we'd keep the ball out of Rodgers hands.

Rodgers & that offense are simply unstoppable, they have too many weapons and too many ways to hurt you. From watching the film, Rodgers nullifies even a great pass-rush with his rapid decision making & subsequant release of the football. It's his ability to anticipate where his target will be while he releases the ball; throwing ahead of the reciever & hitting them in stride. This kind of quarterback to target play is at times unguardable. They have a solid o-line & the best quarterback in the game right now. They have multiple targets who run precise routes and have full knowlege of their assignments. The only way to beat Green Bay is to gash them up with the run or match them blow for blow with an elite passing game.

It's as simple as this: If Green Bay's Offense is on the field they are going to score.

Keep them off the field, slow down the game & wear down their defense.

The Bears Defense is the ace-up-the-sleve here. If you're able to create the above mentioned circumstance; the Bears Defense has the uncanny ability to create turnovers. Forte runs for over 100 yards + Barber is effective 2nd back + 1 Peanutt Butter or Lovie's adopted child aka (Moore), takeaway = Bears victory.

I mean, look at that Monday night game Indy @ Tampa Bay.

That was sexy there at the end (Gruden thought so too). That's what I want to see from the Bears. At the end of the day I want to see 250 pound men bludgening other men 4 straight plays in a row, churning out 3rd & 6's, with beautiful women dressed in pirate costumes dancing and cannons going off in the backround with a giant pirate ship.
