Quarter Season Mock Draft
Draft
1[16] WR Jeff Fuller [Texas A&M] 6’4” 225lbs.
The big physical target that Cutler needs and the offense has lacked. Fuller does not have elite speed and appears to be more of a Brandon Marshall than a Calvin Johnson, but he is physical and he catches the ball with his hands in traffic.

2[48] S Markelle Martin [Oklahoma St] 6’1” 200lbs.
Between Major Wright and Brandon Merriweather the safety position for the Bears has been just plain bad. The Bears need to resign Harris, as he is the leader of the secondary, and bring in someone with some feel for the position. Martin is a ball hawk that plays the pass well and has the range that the Bears need.

3[77] OG Rokevious Watkins [South Carolina] 6’4” 335lbs.
The Bears have some young players that are starting to develop in Webb, Carimi and Louis and they need to keep adding to the group. Watkins brings great size and strength to either OG position and has played LT in college.

3[80] LB Lavonte David [Nebraska] 6’1” 230lbs.
The LB core for the Bears is aging and there does not appear to be enough young talented depth to make the transition. David is an explosive player with the speed to make plays and cover in the Bears defense.

4. CB Trumaine Johnson [Montana] 6’3” 200lbs.
The Bears need to add starting depth to the CB unit and they need to do so with players who have the size and height to match up with Calvin Johnson. Johnson is 6’3” and can cover enough ground to be affective in the cover 2 defense.

5. OT Matt McCants [UAB] 6’7” 300lbs.
McCants is big and athletic and has played LT in college. He will step into the role that Frank Omiyale embarrasses himself in whenever he steps onto the field.

6. DE Rennie Moore [Clemson] 6’5” 255lbs.
The Bears have solid starting Des, but both players are over 30 years old and no one has stepped up behind them as a potential long range starter. Moore is athletic and long and has shown himself to be disruptive this season.

7. LB Tahir Whitehead [Temple] 6’1” 230lbs.
The Bears need youth at the LB spot and Whitehead adds another young LB that has upside speed to fit into the Cover 2.

I don't know what blew me away more, that you actually did a 1/4 season mock draft or that you had the balls to suggest another friggin safety

I am suprised at how few people here view safety as a position of need?
The safeties have been brutal this season and I am close to writing off Major Wright and Brandon Merritweather.
Who starts at safety for the Bears in 2012?

Then we need to get a safety in FA. JA has had an infinite number of tries already. Get someone proven.

I agree that free agency is probably the more prudent route to go for a safety,
Laron Landry
Michael Griffen
Dashon Goldson

Yeah, I conveniently forgot that lol. And those lost picks could have been used in theory to cycle through the Ohmyhells and the Manu's.
