More Hestery - Wins 10th ST Player of Week
Hester wins 10th special-teams player of week award
Staff report
In news that should surprise no one, Chicago Bears receiver/returner Devin Hester has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after setting an NFL record with his 11th career punt return touchdown.
Hester totaled 142 return yards in last Sunday's 34-29 victory over the Carolina Panthers, including his 69-yard TD return.
This marks the 10th time that Hester has won the weekly special-teams honor, the most ever by a return man.
"We really had no idea he would become the best returner ever to play the game as he has," general manager Jerry Angelo announced Wednesday on the Bears' team-controlled website. "He had such a passion to be great, and that's the one thing a lot of people don't know about Devin. Devin's a great worker. He has a tremendous passion to be a great player and that's one reason we drafted him. We felt like he was going to do everything he could do to be the best he could be and that he had too much talent not to become a very good player."

So much for Devin Hester being sick: The Chicago Bears kick returner exited Sunday's win over the Detroit Lions early due to an illness, but he accomplished enough before leaving to be named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week.
Hester has won three Player of the Week awards this season and 12 in his career, which puts him in a tie for 11th for most awards won since 1984 (Peyton Manning leads with 21).
Hester had an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown and compiled 122 punt return yards on three returns. And he entered the game under the weather and nursing an ankle injury.
Hester’s touchdown was the 17th kick return score of his career, extending an NFL record. The touchdown was the 18th return touchdown (12 punt, five kickoff, one missed field goal) of his career, second most in NFL history surpassing Hall of Famer Rod Woodson (17), trailing Hall of Famer Deion Sanders (19). Hester has reached the mark in 85 career games played while Woodson played in 238 and Sanders 188.
It was Hester's 12th Special Teams Player of the Week award and third of the season.

One article says 10th and the other says 12th. Is it maybe 10 for ST and 2 for offense?

The guys is just incredible. Everytime he gets the least bit of space he breaks one and half the time the only that's stopped from 10 more TD's has been a punter or a penalty. I love watching him when he breaks through that first wall and turns on the jets. You know he's gone once he's past that first wave.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I think Hester can win several more POTW awards and has a chance of beating Manning's record. Yet another reason to enshrine him in the HOF.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
