Although the Chicago Bears' defense was torched for 29 points and 543 yards of total offense by Carolina, general manager Jerry Angelo attributes it more to the Panthers' talented playmakers than to any shortcomings by the Bears.
"Watching the game, I felt more depressed than I did after I watched the tape," Angelo announced Wednesday on the Bears' team-controlled website. "After watching the tape, I wasn't as depressed because their quarterback played great. Cam Newton did some really special things. Normally we would have had maybe four or five sacks. But he eluded the rush about as well as I've ever seen. I've got to go back to when we played Tony Romo here or when we faced Michael Vick. But Cam Newton might be the best of all of them in that regard, so I've got to give him credit.
"They have three No. 1 draft picks on the offensive line and two No. 1 picks at running back, and don't forget Steve Smith. We played against a very talented offense. I've got to give our opponent credit. That's their strength and they did a great job.
"But we missed opportunities. We could have had five takeaways and we should have had three, but we came away with only one. That was part of the problem. Takeaways are a big part of our defense, and we didn't take advantage of opportunities we were given. I feel strongly that we're going to rebound. That's a lot of yards, and we're not used to seeing that around here. We have a high standard and we expect to play to that standard each and every week, regardless of the opponent."

Isn't it amazing how deluded his thinking is? Does he think we don't get it? We're Chicago Bears fans for cryin' out loud. We know football and we know football talent, well maybe not nerrad, but most of the rest of us do. It's like "The Emporer's New Clothes". Every time he opens his mouth all I hear is naked, unsupported, delusional talk.
"We did everything we could to fix our offensive line", "I'm making Matt Forte's contract extension a priority", "We missed some opportunites", "We could have had five takeaways, we should have had three, and we only got one".
