Thayer: Bears should retaliate if Suh plays dirty

Chicago Bears radio analyst Tom Thayer labeled Ndamukong Suh a dirty player and said the Bears should retaliate if the Detroit Lions defensive tackle gets in any cheap shots during their game Monday night in Detroit.
“Ndamukong Suh is cheap,” Thayer said Monday on "The Mully and Hanley Show" on WSCR-AM 670. “He’s one of the best defensive linemen in the league, but he hits late, after the whistle, with the intentions of hurting people."
Suh, in his second NFL season out of Nebraska, already has established himself as one of the league's best. But Thayer said the Bears need to rein him in.
"If Ndamukong Suh wants to cheap-shot somebody on my team, I’m going to cheap-shot (Lions quarterback Matthew) Stafford," Thayer said. "And the best guy to do it is Julius Peppers. And I’m not calling for this, but I’m just trying to police some of the dirty efforts by Ndamukong Suh.”
Thayer, an offensive lineman on the Bears' Super Bowl XX champions, said football is "a great retaliation sport.”
“You better come with cinder blocks tied around your knees because I am going to angle-block you and hit you in every way, shape or form that I can hit you in the most uncomfortable area,” Thayer said.
"If you think you're going to go out there and passively play against this aggressive defense, then you might as well not even show up. ... There is no way I'm letting Detroit control the atmosphere tonight."

Yeah, because we want to lose Peppers for the game.
Refs always see the second guy.
You want to retaliate? Beat them on the damn field.

I'm all for retaliating, but retaliate at Suh, not Stafford.

I don't condone that "tit for a tat" stuff but on the other hand you can't let an opponent get away with cheap shots trying to intimidate people. It's really no different than hockey with the exception of the fact that in hockey fighting is encouraged. Every hockey team needs an enforcer and in my opinion so does a football team. It's just a shame that ours is now playing OC for the Saints.
So with Olin Kruetz now gone what Bears player would be the most likely canidate to play the role of enforcer? My choice would be Lance Louis so who do you guys think should be the Bears "enforcer"?
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Well if it's known he's gonna do it I'd go for prevenge and hit him early and often. Let him retaliate. And yes beating them on the field works too.

I condone it 110 percent. It happened to t Harris where people started taking his knees out for playing like that and Harris is mild compared to suh. Webb going for suh knees? Why not. Suh is trying to hurt players and brags about it eventually someone will teach him a lesson

If Suh keeps the dirty play up offensive linemen are going to start taking him out at the knees. He might stop then.

The league has been pussified and Suh plays like Dick Butkus.
