One thing I can say about Davis though is that when we throw to him good things happen. Despite his blocking woes he's had some nice catches and he's a hell of a lot tougher after the catch than Olsen ever was. Tall, athletic, and had pretty good speed for a 270 lb guy but once again Martz trys to fit a square peg in a round hole. Throw to the guy and stop asking him to block DE's one on one. Hell, Spaeth has missed his share of blocks against them as well. If they start using Spaeth and Smith in two TE sets and Davis in single sets or flanked out as a receiver we'd be better off. Cutler cries out for bigger more physical receivers and here's a guy who's 6'7" and we seldom throw to him? What's wrong with that picture.

I don't know if you guys noticed but one reason that Stafford got good protection is that Detroit was keeping 7 men in to block on a lot of their pass plays. You're not gonna get a very good pass rush when it's 7 against 4. Does Martz ever think of doing that? Hell no! His idea is to put 5 guys out as receivers and play with an empty backfield when his QB is getting killed almost every play. What good do 5 receiver do when you barely have time to find one before your hit?

Mike Martz is anything but conventional, that's for sure. I was at least pleased that he ran the ball so much during the game against the Lions. Forte looked really good, but I was a little disappointed that they didn't put in Marion Barber more to pound away at the opposing defensive line on 3rd and short. I know he was injured, but he should be well enough now that we ought to get our money's worth out of him.

So, the coaches should gameplan around the talent they have, so Olsen should remain a Bear. The HC should hire an OC that works a system his players can best adapt to, so Martz never should've been hired. The GM shouldn't keep a HC that has a poor evaluation record with coordinators (why was Turner here longer than Rivera, and why does it feel like Martz will be the same?), so he should've fired lovie. The team president shouldn't retain a GM that bows down to his coaches and has delusions of grandeur. Finally, the owner shouldn't have an accountant running their football team. So, basically, trading Olsen invalidates everything about this organization.

Huh? I don't know where that came from. I'm not stumping for that but I am stumping for Martz to use the receivers he's got more effectively. The story line we got was Olsen was traded and RWill takes his place as that bigger target. How well has that worked?

In this era teams throw to their TE's and we still have one who's big, relatively fast, is tough to bring down and can catch, so why not use him as a receiver more often. Hasn't the guy had like 3 td's in his last 5 or 6 catches? We have no downfield passing game, Bennett is still out and will be for at least one more week if not longer, and we need intermediate targets besides Sanz. But Martz doesn't want to throw to him? Like I said, what's wrong with this picture?

That was a point by point analysis of why this organization is WRONG. Olsen is/was too valuable to trade for so little, and it's an indictment that the coaches don't know what they're doing, and by proxy and by repeated behavior their superiors don't know what the hell they're doing as well. This is just another glaring example that points to getting rid of these guys.

When Martz was hired , he know he didn't have the players to run his system full tilt. So why didn't he ADJUST his system to the players, and as he got what he needed ( like the BEARS get good players nowadays) turn up his system as? The world may never know.

As has been said, Mike Martz doesn't come on board to "fit in". Martz is that guy you hire for his offensive system, not his sparkling personality. When it comes to giving ground as you suggest he does it grudingly if at all. Read the thread I posted about he and Cutler coming to an agreement.

He says things will change yeah, but he really sound interested and convinced that he should do it?
