Kellen Davis
I understand the O-line getting hammered today. They deserve it. But nobody is bringing up Kellen Davis (at least not that I've heard). This guy should be cut immediately - even before Omiyale!!! How many times has Cutler had to tell him he's not lined up in the correct position? How many times is he going to get called for a false start? And blocking....PATHETIC!!! He makes Greg Olsen look like an All-Pro blocking TE!!!
-
Hey you leave the next Ditka alone. He's a beast...he's really tall, and really big, and not Olsen, who is definately not the next Ditka.
-
what is there to say about him? Most people already knew he was an average talent.
-
He got by on the few exciting catches he's made over the years to get the Bears out of sticky situations and now he's being exposed with him being the guy here, nowhere to hide.
-
Meh, Jermichael Finley caught a touchdown pass that he thought was a run play, and ESPN can't stop talking about how good he is.
-
Well, he DID score our only TD last night, cant be all that bad.
-
What about Matt Spaeth? I thought that's what we brought him here for? To block.
-
Spaeth has a calf injury. But they shouldn't have ran out the only good TE we had.

Another piece of shit plated collective "genius" by the Bears brain trust that is Jerry Angelo and Mike Martz. Oh yeah, we are so much better now for having Kellen Davis start instead of Greg Olsen... I can't wait until we burn Carolina's third rounder on yet another piss poor safety, really, I can't.
That's practically giving away Greg Olsen to Carolina, the same team that saw us (sorry, saw Jerry) coming with Frank Omiyale.

The best blocking TE in preseason was Andre Smith and he sits on the PS. If Martz is determined to not throw to his TE's then we should move him up and send Kyle Adams down. We need a good blocking TE right now more than a ST only guy.
One thing I can say about Davis though is that when we throw to him good things happen. Despite his blocking woes he's had some nice catches and he's a hell of a lot tougher after the catch than Olsen ever was. Tall, athletic, and had pretty good speed for a 270 lb guy but once again Martz trys to fit a square peg in a round hole. Throw to the guy and stop asking him to block DE's one on one. Hell, Spaeth has missed his share of blocks against them as well. If they start using Spaeth and Smith in two TE sets and Davis in single sets or flanked out as a receiver we'd be better off. Cutler cries out for bigger more physical receivers and here's a guy who's 6'7" and we seldom throw to him? What's wrong with that picture.
I don't know if you guys noticed but one reason that Stafford got good protection is that Detroit was keeping 7 men in to block on a lot of their pass plays. You're not gonna get a very good pass rush when it's 7 against 4. Does Martz ever think of doing that? Hell no! His idea is to put 5 guys out as receivers and play with an empty backfield when his QB is getting killed almost every play. What good do 5 receiver do when you barely have time to find one before your hit?
