There have been other times that I thought Cutler looked like a leader on offense. He looked that way against the Packers last year in October; he did again against the Seahawks in the playoffs. But then again, perhaps he did more to validate himself after the disappointment of the NFC Championship Game against Detroit. Our coaching staff did everything it could to lose the game, and Cutler almost willed us back into it with his own grit and determination. Anything that went well against the Lions on Monday night happened because of Jay Cutler, not because of anything the coaches did.

That was my entire point. It seemed everyone on the team was trying their damnedest to lose. The defense. The coaches. The receivers. Jay was the only one playing with any fight and skill and almost willed his team to victory.
I'm convinced that if not for the 88yd Best TD, he would've done just that.

Sanzabah still tries his heart out, even tho he's getting a feel for the game. Can't say the same for everyone else....

Martz says that he and Cutler have come to an agreement on some changes (see thread) but whether he means it or not is another thing IMO. Jay Cutler finally played QB the way he plays it best and if Martz won't bend to that he's an even bigger fool that I already think he is.

There should be two things that Martz needs to agree up on.
There should always be a RB in the backfield to protect Jay or a quick target to throw to.
No more 7 step drops

Cutler has been a NATURAL without an OL.
Imagine what he could do if he had an OL.
Angelo owes Cutler an apology.

I'd rather send Forte out to receive and keep two TE's on the line to block along with the OT's, not on the DE's by themselves. What idiot thought that up? On second thought don't answer that.
If anyone noticed Detroit often had 7 blockers in pass protection all up on the line and Stafford had time to find his targets. Our pass rush was criticized but often we rushed 4 against 7 and you won't get much pressure with those kind of odds. When have you ever seen Mike Martz use 7 pass blockers?

I frankly don't understand why we don't send the house more on defense when the opposing offense stacks the line of scrimmage with seven linemen and TEs. I'm not saying this would work everytime, but it would give the opposing offensive coordinator something to think about when they figure that they will have to block one extra man than they have in total blockers.
