I'm finally proud of Jay Cutler
He had, in my opinion, his best game as a Bear against the Lions. Not statistically, but as a leader. With the line being as porous as ever. With receivers dropping drive-killing and touchdown-giving balls. With (bad) plays coming in slowly as always. Jay Cutler BALLED.
He dodged untouched rushers.
He put the ball on the money to every receiver.
He extended plays with his feet and kept his eyes downfield.
He always looked like he thought we'd win, even when our defense gave up two(!) 75yd+ touchdowns.
He finally was LEADING our team even with an awful line and a defense that looked lost. I hope he continues to play this way all year. We're not out of the playoff hunt by any means.

To me this is Cutler's redemption. Even the media gave the man some credit after the game vs the Lions. This is a good thing IMO, all and sundry got to witness the crapness of the Bears O-Line and they FINALLY gave the "choke"-messages from the conference-game a rest. Maybe JErry Angelo is forced to give Cutler some actual weapons from now on....?

Yes, finally. This was the first game where I felt that he was the undisputed leader of the team. Not Kreutz. Not Urlacher, but Cutler. If the Bears had any kind of defense, he would've led us to a victory. With everything from receivers to coaching working against him (Lovie shoulda took that 3 pts. in the 1st), he kept at it.

You finally willing to admit our DL is suspect? B/c you were all about how awesome they were going to be after that Alt game......
Cutler has had games where I was very proud of him; and that he was the Bears qb and not the guys that came before him. I'd take him over every qb we've had since Kramer, and over him too b/c of his injury issues.

Right on brother Starky. You're right. To me this was the game where he turned the corner and began to do things his way. Basically his play said "fvck you Mike", I'm gonna get this job done the way I know how to get it done. Your way insn't working. He basically called Martz out over those seven step drops in his interview today.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Maybe JC has it wrong? It's not "seven step drop", it's "seven step sprint and throw it to save your life". LOL j/k

I have to concur...this was the first game in a long time, if ever, that Cutler really impressed me as a leader and a football player (as opposed to just being a physically gifted QB)... good team or bad team, win or lose, that was how I expect him to play game in and game out...let’s hope he can keep it up....
Reductio ad absurdum...it's how we roll...

I won't be impressed until he starts demanding more from the FO and if he is already but behind closed doors and they don't do anything I wish he would use the media .....then he will be the leader. Someone needs to get the ball rolling for some change around here

You're exactly right. Jay was ad-libbing out there. He basically said that he's tired of Martz's bad play-calling. I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled a McMahon and started calling his own plays.
