I didn't hear his actual comments prior to the Lions game but from other comments that I read and posted in another thread apparently he implyed that the team has the talent they just need to play better. As those who heard it understood the implication was that it was a problem with coaching and/or coordination and not the level of talent. It's pathetic when you think about it. Does he really believe the offensive line has all the talent it needs? After watching that exhibition they put on Monday he really looks ridiculous for saying that.
Here's a link to the thread that where I read those comments. The writer describes it as Angelo throwing the coaching staff "under the bus" prior to the game and Lovie firing back on that afterwards.
We Should All Get a Kick Out of These Comments.......................

Safety combination #52 in Lovie's tenure.
I agreed with some others Harris still looked injured, if that's the case sit yourself down or gametime scratch, you are playing the best WR in the league and now you look foolish.

I think he was being pushed to go on Monday. The coaching staff cared more about having his leadership than they did about whether he was 100% or not. Plus Harris is in a contract year with no extension in sight so he's not gonna malinger he'll play even if he's not completely up to it.
The sad thing is I don't think it would have mattered at all who was playing that still would have been a TD. It was a combination of errors. Peanut didn't hold him up at the line, there was zero penetration up the middle from the line and Harris, who's no speed demon to begin with, didn't have the wheels to recover. What happened was exactly what Matt Bowen drew up in his commentary about the Bears safties play being pivotal to stopping Johnson downfield.

Great take on this Meriweather signing. Angelo hits another foul ball with this former 1st rounder too. We're paying this guy $3.5 mil to blow coverage assingments and pick up fines rather than wrap up and tackle. Cut him now and use the savings to extend Chris Harris. Him we need this other clown we don't.
Be it resolved: Don't take Belichick rejects
Meriweather is dirty, undisciplined and seemingly uncoachable
If you've had it with the Bears and find yourself rooting for more disasters so a regime change will be made, you could be in for a sober awakening.
Many insiders believe that even a 4-12 or 5-11 season wouldn't be enough for Team McCaskey to pull the plug on general manager Jerry Angelo and/or coach Lovie Smith. Both have two years remaining on their deals.
- Dan McNeil
That accepted, I think it's my duty to help Angelo with his New Year's resolutions. I'm going to offer one every week until the ball drops in Times Square. Hey, the GM said in Bourbonnais he was more interested in solutions than hearing about his team's problems.
Here's one: The next time Bill Belichick cuts a first-round draft pick who's in his mid-20s, just say no.
It didn't take long to learn why Belichick thought he could live without safety Brandon Meriweather, whom Angelo signed in late August for more than $3 million.
Meriweather is a dirty player, a head hunter who goes for highlight-reel knockout shots instead of ensuring the ball carrier's backside is on the ground. He is undisciplined and seemingly uncoachable.
He was fined $20,000 for illegal hits against Carolina's Steve Smith in Week 4, but that didn't deter Meriweather from leading with his head again Monday night against the Lions.
More fines are coming, but so is reduced playing time. Meriweather and Chris Harris are expected to be benched Sunday night when the Bears attempt to dig their way out of a 2-3 start in another nationally televised game against the Vikings.
That might be the only good news we get from Lake Forest this week. And it's hardly "good" news, considering Major Wright and Chris Conte, the Bears' fifth combination at safety this season, are as suspect as the guys they're replacing.

Ditka could coach Mayweather. Just saying.

If he's right and we're STUCK with these guys, then George better exercise his authority and tell him on no uncertain terms " you WILL use your first 3 draft picks on offensive linemen in next years draft ". And they better pony-up the funds to get a true #1 WR here wether it's a trade or through FA. Enough fuckin' around already !
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Keg, in all fairness, the touchdown came after Peppers was brought out of the game for an examination of his injured knee. Up until then, Detroit didn't try to go up top because we were simply getting too much pressure on them with Peppers and Idonije, plus we were bottling up Best.
But I agree, last year, Chris Harris would have made Johnson work his ass off for that bomb.

Blue, I know that this guy isn't in the Bears sights, but Brandon Lloyd is apparently on the trade block out in Denver. Word I heard on either ESPN was that the Titans had expressed interest in him. Truthfully, I think he would be a wise investment. He only has one reception this season so far, but then again, the Broncos passing game is about as bad as the Bears, possibly worse, because Orton is such a fuck head.
