I think they wanted him back there for his leadership and to keep Meriweather focused but it didn't work.
If he is injured that hurts his trade value but a guy who made 2nd team All-Pro last year has got to worth more then a 7th round pick. There's no way I would trade him for that little. As thin as we are with experienced help at Safety we'd be far better to keep him around and hope that as he gets healthier his play improves. Wright and Conte did nothing special last night and they really weren't challenged deep at all.

Well I totally misjudged this situation guess he wasnt benched cause of injury lol
Lovie has never liked him. He couldn't move fast enough to get rid of him for Archuletta

Agent Albert Elias: "I believe it was a knee-jerk reaction. Based on Chris' track record as a member of the Bears in making the Super Bowl and the NFC Championship, he's always contributed when the team has been the most successful.
However, that's my opinion only. [General manager] Jerry [Angelo] and [head coach] Lovie [Smith's] mission is to manage the team, and my mission and goal is to manage Chris and make sure he has a jersey on come football season.
Jerry Angelo and I just got off the phone. He's been a mentor and a father-figure to me.
The fact that he's doing the right thing on Chris Harris' behalf by granting us an opportunity to explore a trade goes a long way with us.
Lovie has to make decisions that are in the best interest of the team and we understand and respect that.
However, as his agent, I have to do what is right for Chris' best interest, but it has to be the right fit.
If he stays, Chris will be the same professional that he always is."

That doesn't say much for Lovie's abilities to judge talent at the position does it? There are a lot of people saying we don't need him anyway and that he takes poor angles and blah, blah, blah but how come we struggled for so long at Safety and when we finally do bring him back not only do we almost make the Super Bowl but he takes down All-Pro honors?
The guy will never be a HOF'er but he shows the best leadership in the secondary we've had since Mike Brown and he gets and causes turnovers. To me his play at FS is about equivalent to that of Peanut at CB. He's not the best but he's seldom gonna hurt you either. I still think he's hurt and that the TD catch by Johnson was a fluke that wouldn't have happened if he was 100%

Do people forget the game saving interception he made last year against the Jets? I've always liked Chris Harris and it will be a shame to see him go. It would mean the Bears are planning to spend a first or second round draft pick on another Safety.

You know it's kind or like it was with Corey Graham. Once you get in Lovies doghouse you tend to stay there. It will be interesting to see if his agent can negotiate a trade for him. I'm all for keeping him if all we get out of it is a late round pick. The guy was an All-Pro selection last year so that should add something to his value.
I sure wouldn't let him go for less than the 3rd round pick we'll most likely use on another Safety to replace him. When Windy does his mocks just tell to write down Safety in the 3rd round and we'll fill in the prospects later. (tell him he can use a pen to do it too)

Jerry Angelo also said that after speaking with Chris Harris "we're all on the same page now" and doesn't expect 2 move him.

http://bit.ly/o9xW7q Of course not because we'd never get value for him. Those two young'uns won't set the world on fire and my guess is he'll be playing again after his hammy heals completely. What bothers me more is that it appears they don't want to extend him which I think is wrong.
