I'd slam him, Lovie, and Martz for playing Omiyale who even the comatose could see is terrible. So... that says to me because of his contract he was playing as much as he did b/c the ownership wished it. What other rational explanation is there? Surely any PS member could equal or exceed Ohmyfail.

Also I don't care what they say about the current spin on the O-line being better and Webb at LT. He's been posterized as much as Omiyale but because people "mark out" on his size he gets a pass. When Carimi is healthy he should get a shot at LT and Webb can try out for RT if he beats Louis. And this thing about Webb being "more athletic" than Carimi. By what, where, and by how much? It sure isn't footwork, technique, or awareness. So somebody please fill me in on that.

Here's a trivia question. Who was Michael Jordan refering to when he said " I'm tired of playing with these stiffs " ?
A: Bill Cartwright - One of the gawkiest centers to ever play the game.
Webb is the Bears version of Cartwright.
So no one can 'fill you in on that' without fibbing to your face.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

Webb is not a very talented OT, and we knew this when we drafted him in the 7th Round. Yet, Mike Tice thinks he can bleed blood from the turnip. He did have a good game against the Vikings, especially in blocking against Jared Allen, who is arguably the best DE in the NFL outside of Julius Peppers. However, I'm not so sure that his success in the game wasn't as a result of good blocking from his line mates that took the pressure off of him.

I think your right of course Dags. Max protect, chip, and having an actual FB makes him look better than he is. Basically Webb is a false positive because he can't handle DE's one on one. The spin will come on the strides he's making in pass-pro but basically he is right now just a run blocker.

He (Webb) is an above average run blocker, for sure. I tend to agree, though, with what was mentioned earlier (I think it was you who mentioned this, but because the thread page navigated away due to me quoting you, I cannot see for certain if you made the Carimi comment) that Carimi should get a chance to crack the starting LT position over Webb. Carimi has more talent in his pinky than Webb has in his gelatin mass of fat. Carimi is an even better run blocker, but he also adds the dimension to his game that he can also pass protect. I think we would see a notable difference in pass protection from Cutler's blind side if we just looked into doing that.

I wonder when they're finally gonna stop drafting athletes and start drafting football players. That's why we end up drafting Safeties and undersized DE's every year. Lovie and JA just love their athleticism.

Webb is an OT for cripes sake, not an Olympic Decathlon Champion. If he's more athletic than Carimi it isn't by much and he's dumb as a post which is why in the Lions game he was a little slow on the uptake about the need to remain still even when the defense moves.

I know what u mean when u say draft fb players, but I gotta disagree with u a little bit when u say " athletes" .... cuz I don't think some of these guys are very good athletes at all. Some are lousy athletes in big bodies who they try to make into fb players. Some may improve a little bit with time and ALOT of work. And some have never been athletic enough to stick, shouldn't have been drafted in the first place, are only here because they're the best we got right now, and will be on the first bus outta town when better players arrive.
