Who's next?
We go out and pay ridiculous amounts to castoffs from other teams like Taylor, Manu, RWill and Meriweather yet none of these guys has lived up to their paychecks and none of them were asked to give us a discount. Chris Harris agrees to return in trade for a $2.1 mil discount, gives the team an All-Pro performance and helps us to the NFCC Game and this is how he's taken care of?
Edit: For comparison purposes Meriweather's $3.5 mil one year deal is $1.2 mil more than Chris Harris get for both the 2010 and 2011 seasons. I'd feel disrespected too if I were him.
Just WTF is up at Halas Hall anyway? They have a huge cap excess and don't seem willing to spend it on Forte or some Oline help.......why? Somethings not right here.
I dont mind them playing hardball with the 30+ year old club. It is the fact we have guys in their 20s thatn need new deals like Forte and the fact they added jack shit and actually just subtracted from the 30th ranked offense. The mkcheaps are making a killing this year

With Harris they haven't even played hardball on a contract. There's been no effort to even offer him an extension although I don't doubt they'll run into the same issue with him as they did with Olin if or when they do. Angelo has said they're not gonna trade him (no big surprise there, no one will even offer) and that he and Harris are on the "same page now" whatever the hell that means.
I think his point is that since he took a major hit in his pay to join the club they should be more considerate of his future. If they want him make an offer and if not let him know so he can start preparing to market himself. I can see why he's upset about being on the inactive list. The guy is proud and wants to play. He's a team guy and not a trouble maker or a head case. In addition it hurts his market value if they are gonna let him go.
The guy didn't play himself up to an All-Pro level just to have his livelihood screwed with like this. He gives up one long TD pass and gets benched in favor of two guys who gave up a long TD pass too. I'm not saying we didn't need to see what we have in those two but they might have made that clearer to Harris than it appears they did.

well we are moving on and seeing what our young guys have to offer. Got to see what we have in them before we waste even more picks at the position. This happens in football. Im actually happy for once there is accountability on this team. Between the safeties getting benched and OMYfail being benched it is a great sign of things. All Im interested in is a commitment from the FO to fix this damn offense. We have enough big contracts on defense. Harris did good for us but Im not scared to move on. We need to get younger

I guess this is what being on the same page means. Sorry Chris, we'd love to trade you but we can't get a deal done on this short notice.
Angelo talks to Harris, no deal expected

Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo told ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright that he's spoken with Chris Harris about his trade request, and he doesn't expect a move to be made before the deadline.
"We're all on the same page now," said Angelo, who said "it would be too difficult" to get a deal done before Tuesday's 3 p.m. deadline.
"You have to be in the mindset to let a player go," Angelo said. "And chances are if they like your player, you like them, too. It's very difficult to do because with a lot of the good players, their teams are still in the hunt."

LOL, if that were only the case mo. If they let Harris go and don't re-sign Meriweather (very likely) you know they'll draft at least one more Safety next April. There as predictable as Old Faithful when it comes to that. To the Bears Safeties are disposable use once and throw away pieces of the puzzle. If we ever went after a really great college Safety in the first round I'd crawl to Michigan on my hands and knees and kiss your ass
.........well maybe just the crawl part will do.

I think the cubs have a better chance on winning a world series than the bears being a top ten offense.
