What we learned London edition

Get forte the ball, get turn overs, and bobs your uncle. Chicago will win.

TB, okay that team was beat up before the game started, and it didn't get better as the game went on. W/no running game at all, their O still had them in this game. TB O. I'd like some of those WR's on our team; big tall go up and get it guys, and they have some moves too. Notice that Big WR when they got close to the endzone; it's called a TE and man it makes those goal line passes a lot easier. W/their 3rd string rb, they could still get a few runs off but they were definatly limited. TB D, they finally showed up in the 2nd half, and we struggled b/c of it; I cannot remember ever seeing a DB sack a qb before the qb got a step back from the Center, how he timed it that well is unbelieavable. They shut the Bears down on 7 plays in the RZ...amazing.

Chicago O, the run sets up the pass, Forte is the key to this O. Said it before the season, it's true today and was proven last year; why Martz thought different is not worth debating, but again it appears that the rest of the staff sat his backside down and got it through his head. The WR's really stepped up today, a few bad drops, but blocking down field, and catching the ball they all showed up. RWill; this might have been the best game I've seen you play in; good for you, now do it a few more times to show you were worth that money we gave you. Knox/Hester/Sanz all looked good. Yet suprisingly our QB looked like a good rex/bad rex performance. Our OL sucks; if you dont max protect, Cutler gets killed. TE's need to help block, RB's need to chip or stay back to defend for Cutler to have a chance most of the time. Forte keeps getting more and more expensive, nothing else to say about it. JA, you are no Theo E.
Chicago D, played really solid to great for 3 qtrs; way to stop playing for most of the 4th to make the game interesting. But 4 turn overs, and plenty of hits/hurries/sacks means they did what they were supposed to do. I think this is 2 games now w/no big plays(40+) hurray for you; your getting closer. But this game shouldn't have been this close, they were missing their first rb, and for most of the game their 2nd rb. that made them completely 1 sided, and they still moved the ball through the air all over you. Thank god Freeman had a worse day then Cutler.
Coaches, Lovie actually made a correct challenge wtg Lovie. OC actually called an okay game; went a little to pass happy, but still ran the ball most of the times we needed him to. Tice, seriously lack of talent or otherwise, your group sucks balls. You need to buy the TE's and RB's coaches the best dinner in town. Rod, again a beat up OL, and you abused it, way to go.


Hey it's the first win against a team w/a winning record, and they just came off a win vs New Orleans, who spanked up. So this team is not horrible, and we had this game in hand fairly quickly. Any win is a good win, congrats boys, go have a pint o' ale and some fish and chips or bangers and mash me laddy's. And enjoy the long ride home and the bye week.

Most boring game of the season so far.

So in addition to giving themselves an opportunity to potentially gain a game in the divisional standings on Detroit, the Bears surely see this victory as a positive omen of what could come after the bye.

No jet lag: The Bears didn’t necessarily put forth a vintage performance, but the team didn’t appear to show any signs of suffering from jet lag.

The Buccaneers arrived early on Monday to get themselves acclimated to the time difference. The Bears, meanwhile, didn’t show up until Thursday night.

It didn’t matter.

Led by a strong performance from Matt Forte, the Bears built a 14-5 halftime lead. Quarterback Jay Cutler completed 8-of-14 for 95 yards in the first half with a touchdown and an interception.

Strong start for OL: The Bears continued their tactics of shorter drops, tight end help and running backs staying in on passes to chip block, with the team benefiting in the first half.

The Buccaneers significantly pressured Cutler in the first half, but the quarterback used his mobility and throwaways to avoid sacks.

Tampa Bay’s Adrian Clayborn zipped into the backfield in the third quarter to finally sack Cutler for a 2-yard loss. The Bears have allowed just one sack in each of the past two games. The team has also given up only one sack in three of the past four outings.

Unlucky 14th: Kicker Robbie Gould came into Sunday’s game having made all 13 of his field goal attempts on the season, but missed a 41-yard try in the third quarter.

Gould is now 50-of-69 in his career on field goal attempts from distances of 40 to 49 yards.

Williams finds end zone: Bears receiver Roy Williams made up for dropping a ball early in the game when he hauled in a 25-yard pass with 7:49 left to play in the opening half. The touchdown was Williams’ first as a Bear, and broke a lengthy scoring drought for the receiver.

Before the game Sunday, Williams hadn’t caught a touchdown pass in 371 days. Williams last scored a touchdown on Oct. 17, 2010, (as a Dallas Cowboy), when the receiver pulled in two scoring grabs against the Minnesota Vikings.

What’s next: The Bears take the week off and are idle next Sunday before travelling to Philadelphia for a Nov. 7 clash against the Eagles on "Monday Night Football."

I hope the bye week the game planning can improve. Hopefully, Carimi can return (as well as Bennett) and Louis can slide back to RG. I have no clue as to why the D line can get pressure vs. a banged up Bucs O-line that is one-dimensional. We need Toe back at 3 tech apparently.

Not calling more play action passes to take advantage of their respect for the run game, running out of ideas after they figured out how to stop our running right past the d-line and Cutler kept them in this game. Not to mention, instead of those play action passes, we opt for an empty backfield, making it all but obvious what we're doing..

Our coaches really really really suck. After witnessing todays game I keep seeing the pattern of not putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Why in the hell do you let Freeman sit in the back field and throw the ball while playing that pussy ass zone defense. Nothing like letting the wr run past you hoping the guy behind you will cover him. Send in more than 4 guys you stupid ass DC when the opposing offense has 2 back up linemen in the game.

Second why throw the ball in the endzone vs running the ball to the left or right is stupid. The worst case scenario is that you get stopped and you force Tampa to use their time outs. Forte ran all day outside of the pocket yet you decide to run up the gut. Why????

Jerry you are an idiot for not signing Forte before the season started because it is games like this is going to cost you more money to keep him. Keep up the great work you dumbass GM.

What I learned is that Roy Williams still has some of the worst hands in the NFL and that the Bears have still failed to put together 60 dominating minutes of football. Today didn't even come close. We looked sad in the 2nd half.

I think the Oline was average at best. We were facing a somewhat depleted DL who rared up and stuffed the run game. Much of it was on Martz however, I saw Webb getting beat despite help from Spaeth and co. Spencer and Louis weren't exactly tearing it up either.

Between the crappy play calling and the jetlag it made watching this game awful.

Toe has been playing NT. Paea is the guy who should be seeing more snaps on passing downs. He gets a nice push on the pocket. Okoye is always good for a sack every other game, I think he has 4 now, and Melton has been a big disappointment as a full timer. I'd like to see Okoye and Paea get more playing time.
