The The Story of the Three Bears; Too Hot, Too Cold, and Just Right........
3 Bears: Forte too hot, Martz too cold
I want one of these!!!!! And I don't mean the T-Shirt.

Too hot: Matt Forte
Until further notice, maybe this space should be reserved for running back Matt Forte. He sparked the Bears early with big runs, proving to be shifty in the open field as the Buccaneers missed a host of tackles. It's nothing new. Forte has been slippery all season, and his 145 rushing yards and 38 receiving just offered more proof. He has accounted for 46.2 percent of the team's offense, and with 38 receptions — 17 more than No. 2 Dane Sanzenbacher — he could easily lead the team in catches. It's a testament to his talent but a jarring reminder of how inconsistent the rest of the offense is. (Hey Angelo, he's really making you say uncle on that "elite back thing" isn't he?)
Too cold: Mike Martz
There were no microphones to capture what offensive coordinator Mike Martz was saying when a Fox camera caught him throwing down a pencil after a Jay Cutler interception in the fourth quarter. It was only fair to question the play-calling, though, after the Bears turned away from the running game after building a 21-5 lead, with Martz calling 17 passes and only 11 runs (not counting Cutler's game-ending kneel-down) the rest of the way. Players cited attacking Bucs linebackers for stopping what they were doing effectively in the running game. But the Bears needed to manage the clock much better, and the four-minute offense was shaky. (Does anyone else besides me see this guy as hopelessly and incurably addicted to his passing game?
Just right: Chris Spencer
Some might have hoped right tackle Gabe Carimi would have been back from his right knee injury before now, but the extended time he has missed has created more opportunities for Chris Spencer. Signed after the departure of Olin Kreutz, Spencer has made five starts at right guard and has done enough to at least create a discussion at the position between him and Lance Louis once Carimi returns. The converted center is playing better, and Cutler took notice, saying the Bears should have six quality linemen when Carimi is healthy. (Maybe the Seadogs had him out of position all these year. The musical chair swap between him and Garza is working out well)

Anyone else think the Matt Forte's price is going up faster than the meter on a crosstown taxi from O'Hare to the Loop?
How can anyone ever take Mike Martz seriously whenever he says he'll run the ball? Would any other OC in the league call first and second down passing plays ahead by 16 points in the 3rd on his own 30 yard line? A 63% to 37% pass to run ratio in the second half with the f'n lead!!!!! Wonder what he'd have done if we were behind? He's an idiot and I take back what I posted about possibly keeping him around. The Bears offense is working because of Forte and Cutler and in spite of Mike Martz. Color him uneeded.
I liked the way Chris Spencer has played at OG and Louis at RT. This will create and interesting scenario when Carimi returns. Frankly if we play our best 5 it's Webb who sits. At least once a game somebody beats him like a rug and Jay gets knocked silly.

The pick Jay threw should of been a run play. You have arguably one of the best all around RB's in the league and you pass the ball instead of trying to grind out the clock? Put the pass happy book away and start to call plays that fits the Bears weapons.

No offensive line is good enough to strictly play based on a 65/35 pass to run ratio. It is as if Martz smelled blood in the water and felt that the offensive line was going to hold on all night. In the end, Cutler got sacked twice, one of which occurring at the end of the game before he could even make a drop into the pocket. I wish the Bears would fire Martz at mid-season simply because he is so ridiculous. There is no telling what he said to Cutler in the locker room after the game, but I'm sure it was a profanity laced tirade.

No Hester is ridiculous, Martz is stupid. Give some credit to TB though, they did not let a lot of inside runs, which forced us to run outside only, and they started to slow that up for a short time...Martz felt the need to pass to loosen it up; which allowed them to get more pressure. Cutler did not have a good day the WR's actually saved him a few times.

Damn straight it should have been! You run up over 160 yds on the ground behind the hottest RB in the NFL and you comeout passing in the 2nd half. Martz hasn't got a brain cell working.

Hester is ridiculous, and Martz is definitely stupid. Henry has been screaming this point all day since the end of the game that we hardly ever used playaction passes in the game. Had we done that, I think that this game would have been a blow out, and there wouldn't be such an uproar over Mike Fartz right now. Unfortunately for him, he is a fucking moron and the worst offensive coordinator I have ever seen. Too bad we could not have hired Jeremy Bates to come in and coach this offense. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll be our next offensive coordinator.

1 of Cutlers Sacks go on Webb. Hope Carimi gets his Spot.
Playcalls from Martz get me always wondered.

Lets not leave out the six chances at the goal line and all they did was go backwards. The safety I will give to TB for a good defense play. But if we had a better line it more than likely would not have happen. Look at the TB o-line. They had an injury on the line and still kept heat off the QB.
Without weaponz it's just another airline!

There's a small part of me that likes the passing while in the lead. Prior to Martz, it seemed like we were all complaining that the Bears got way too conservative once they got a lead. However, I also can't stand Martz and the way he takes that to extremes whenever he gets the chance. I'm very torn on Martz. If he were allowed to leave at the end of the year I wouldn't be upset, but I also wouldn't be overly upset if they retained him. But, only for another year or so with a short leash.
