I'm just glad to have you back on this site. I think we all benefit from having you around. I just hope that the Bears don't fuck things up by botching up the hiring of the GM. I think the OC position went smoothly to be totally honest with you. I wanted Tice as the OC for the past two years, with mixed reactions coming in from various members of this message board. I think Ross or Snead would be the two best people for the job should we get that far.

Dags, the ball's in the court of Ted Phillips and George McCaskey. They have a very high profile desirable position as Bears GM to offer and based on what has been said there are quite a few great personnel guys from other teams who should certainly attract attention.
McCaskey has already stated that money would not be a barrier so there's no way they keep Ruskell just to avoid having to pay him and a new GM. If that turns out to be the case then I'd call George McCaskey a liar to his face. If this isn't handled right and doesn't lead to an improvement in the way the front office has been run they risk alienating far more than just me. Bears fans all over will throw up their hands in disgust.

I don't think that George McCaskey or Ted Phillips are going to fuck around with the fan base on this issue. They have too much at risk. I honestly believe that the Bears are at a crossroads right now with the fan base: either they fix the broken wheel and get on with the business of trying to win championships, or the fans will revolt and start avoiding Soldier Field in droves. This happened with the Lions decades ago, and that problem is only now being remedied because the franchise has become committed to trying to win for the first time since the 1990s. I don't think McCaskey or Phillips want to mess with a good thing, so they are going to do their due diligence by going after the best man available for the job.

I'm not buying in to the press and all their stupid ( as usual ) chicken little the sky is falling quips about ' what's taking the Bears so long to pick ' and the infrences that they're gonna wait too long and wind up with the 'lesser' options. There's plenty left , and as long as they DON'T go with Suckskell ( and don't go with a defense 1st guy , been there tried that ) , we should come out of it ok. There's months to look at film of the current players and prepare for the draft.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

I'm beginning to like Marc Ross an awful lot right now. He's come from an organization that has drafted well on both sides of the ball over the years (look recently at Jason Pierre-Paul, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, and Mario Manningham. Those last three guys are all receivers, and Cruz had almost 1,600 receiving yards this season. With the Eagles, with whom he held the same position as college scouting director as he does currently with the Giants, he drafted Brian Westbrook, Lito Sheppard, and Derrick Burgess.
I can't find great big long list of players who were drafted on Les Snead's watch, but I know that Michael Vick was, and apparently, so was John Abraham, Tyson Clabo, Justin Blalock, Julio Jones, etc. That's all I know off the top of my head for the Falcons during the time Snead has been director of player personnel.
Either one would be a major upgrade over what we had. I just hope that we don't settle for Tim Ruskell. That would be the damned worst thing that could happen, to have another Jerry Angelo in place.
