List improvements here
Thought I would start a thread of improvements and things the team did well to counter-balance some of the same stuff we all know needs fixing.
Tyler Clutts: I think this guy is a major reason the running game has resurfaced. If you would have told me at the start of the season Martz is going to use a FB I would have never bought it. Some very nice crushing blocks from him at times.
Dane Sanzenbacher: He not only catches but he can block. A go-to guy in absence of Olsen will only get better with time and might even see the field alongside Bennett returning.
Lance Louis/Chris Spencer: these guys are holding their own. Spencer plays hurt and gives hope for a future center. Louis seems better at RT than LG. Will be interesting when Carimi returns.
Adam Podlesh: Didn't have a super game vs. Bucs but gives flashes of why they moved on from Maynard. Has both leg and touch.
Stephen Paea: I don't care what they say about his "pad level" (you could say that about the whole d-line) this guy is strong, quick, and instinctive. You certainly can see more energy on the line when he's in there.
Roy Williams: There I said it. Caught a TD, caught more than I thought he would, got the penalty on that Bucs player. He's big and if Jay can get used to him he can contribute more than a few other of the wideouts.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

I would maybe agree with everything EXCEPT the view on Roy Williams. I really do not think he is playing any better than any of our other WR's...!!!

Here's my list of immediate improvements. Others to follow.
FIRE JERRY ANGELO!!!!!
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Tyler Clutts: I think this guy is a major reason the running game has resurfaced. If you would have told me at the start of the season Martz is going to use a FB I would have never bought it. Some very nice crushing blocks from him at times. (This guy is a huge additon both as a blocking FB and on ST. That last block he laid on the Bucs safety was the clincher as far as the TD was concerned. The guy had the angle of Forte and Clutts just leveled him. We know he can catch but I'd like to see what he can do carrying the ball too ala the Packer John Kuhn. Maybe another good short yardage and/or goaline option to use when the defense is keying on the RB)
Dane Sanzenbacher: He not only catches but he can block. A go-to guy in absence of Olsen will only get better with time and might even see the field alongside Bennett returning. (Sanz is the perfect example of a guy who doesn't meet NFL standards for size and speed but he knows how to play the game. This is the kind of guy all of our core players should be. Plain and simple the guy is a good football player)
Lance Louis/Chris Spencer: these guys are holding their own. Spencer plays hurt and gives hope for a future center. Louis seems better at RT than LG. Will be interesting when Carimi returns. (Since the season began these two have shown the biggest inprovement of any of the lineman and you're right, Louis does look better outside than he did inside. When Carimi returns we'll finally have enough depth to assure that OMG never sees the field again)
Adam Podlesh: Didn't have a super game vs. Bucs but gives flashes of why they moved on from Maynard. Has both leg and touch. (He's good. Maybe not $3 mil per year good but good. Relatively speaking how do you justify paying a punter $3 mil per year yet offer your star RB only $6 mil?)
Stephen Paea: I don't care what they say about his "pad level" (you could say that about the whole d-line) this guy is strong, quick, and instinctive. You certainly can see more energy on the line when he's in there. (I've liked him ever since I saw his interview after he set that lift record at the combine. He's another guy who defies the measurables somewhat buty he's quick, he's strong and he plays with some fire in his belly. Right now he and Okoye are our best inside rushers and he should be playing ahead of Melton)
Roy Williams: There I said it. Caught a TD, caught more than I thought he would, got the penalty on that Bucs player. He's big and if Jay can get used to him he can contribute more than a few other of the wideouts. (He'll have to do more than catch one TD pass to get off my shit list. He needs to start making the tough over the middle catches that he was brought in to do and leave those legendary alligator arms of his on the bench)
I'll add my thoughts on an improvement for the defense. Who designed these blitzes and showed the guys how to work them? We might just as well skip it because we can't blitz worth a damn. DJ Moore gets a better rush than the LB's most of the time.
It seems like we either don't disguise them well enough or we don't vary them enough but we're not getting sacks off of them the way other teams sack Cutler. The last time we blitzed decently was when Chico was the DC.

A little bit better win against a little bit better team.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?
A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?

I'm most likely going to be told I'm an Id10T for saying/thinking this, but I'm gonna say something positive about Conte. He tackles. Quickly. The Bears pride themselves on swarming to the ball/ball carrier. Conte is usually getting his guy down before the swarm arrives. I don't think the entire Bears defense is "loafing". I'm not ready to say that his int/fumble recovery is skill though.
"Professional Armchair Quarterback" and other oxymora.....

Matt Forte is an elite runningback.
Marrion Barber likes to bounce a lot when he has a big run or scores a TD.
-
Establishing the running game to set the tempo of the game
Properly setting up blocks in the running game, and getting a lot better in the passing game
using our best FS
making the game close through miscues that are easily correctable (i.e. blocks to the back on ANY type of run)
using the running backs in different ways
Linebackers stepping up when needed
not letting the TE own us up and down the field anymore
great punting
mixing our WRs the way our Dline needs to be mixed up (seriously tho, more Sanzanbacher)
Great scrambling by cutler
going into a bye week having to fix a lot less problems than we did 3-4 weeks ago...

run first, pass 2nd O, at least to start. Saw, at least the OC, trying to react and make changes to what the D was doing(might not like what he was doing, but at least he was trying).
Getting more people involved in the O then just Forte. The guy cannot keep up this pace and stay healthy; I liked seeing MBIII/Clutts get more then a few carries/catches, and liked what I saw from all the WR's, they were down field blocking, and catching tougher passes then I have seen in the past. Sorry Soul, I disagree w/you, RWill deserves credit, he made a few tough catches, and more then made up for the bone headed drop. He also had a key block on Forte's first TD run. He needs more games like this, in that I do agree w/you, but give the guy some credit for doing what I didn't think he could.
D is not giving up the huge play's, that's two games in a row. Next game against Philly will be tougher, they have playmakers at RB, QB, WR and TE. If we can make it 3 in a row, and against that team to boot. That will be HUGE.
DJ Moore and Contie are looking pretty good.
DL still needs to get better; I saw a lot of people talking about Paea, but his name wasn't called that much considering the weak inside pressence of the TB OL, and the lack of running to be concerned with. Okoye, needs to play like this against better OL's. Izzy needs to get better also. These guys are playing depleated OL's, w/Peppers out there taking all the attention; they should be far more dominant then they are.
OL, again, a lot of praise, but when they don't get the help from TE's and Rb's helping them; they don't look markedly better then the beggining of the year w/OMY. I wonder where Gabe will be put b/c Louis and Spencer have ssecured those spots, at least it would seem.
QB, he is showing his harm both in strength and accuracy; but that int for MBIII is as much on him as it is on Barber. He rocketed that thing over his head and he wasn't more then a few yards past the lines. I heard a former player say Belecheck always taught his qb's that you have to throw the ball to a running back facemask or lower b/c they don't have the skillsets, and wear bigger shoulder pads, then WR's who can get those high passes. When we max protect, he really shows how talented he is; and he looks to be getting into a rythem w/RW who is slowly starting to have better games more consistantly. Hester is looking more solid too. Knox made a few big catches. It seems like JC is finally starting to get a feel for his WR's. But he needs to continue to feel comfortable w/the blocking up front so he's not so jumpy.
