Don't like it, been overused and out there already

Chris Anderson would probably be happy to share the title but we could get more specific and call Conte "The Stork". That one hasn't been used in a while and Henricks was known as "The Mad Stork" anyway.

The arguement against drafting him has always been that we needed OLine help far more than we needed another Safety. I'm guessing that with most if not all of the Olineman worthy of a 3rd round pick already off the boards he became the player at the top of the Bears board and it may turn out alright after all.
He's only had one year of college ball at FS but from what I could see of him during the last two games he looks like a natural for the position. I think he was on a lot of teams lists and it was just a matter of time before someone pulled the trigger and drafted him. Maybe we're lucky we were quicker on the draw. God knows we need some youthful stability back there so JA can stop drafting Safties every damn year.
Not specifically picking on you, but why is it that everytime there is a white guy playing in the NFL, people feel the need to compare him to other white guys that are in, or have played in the NFL? There's some kind of syndrome here. You see it all the time with receivers... he's another Welker, Chrebet, etc.

Actually bdm I was comparing him more on the basis of his size, his build and his skill set to Fencik's than anything else. To me Gary Fencik is one of the best FS we ever had dating all the way back to Richie Petibon. The fact that both are caucasian is more of a coincidence than intentional on my part. I only hope Conte can be that good.
I was just trading humor back with motown over his post about a white guy playing Safety being a target and used Archuleta as an example of one of our great failures at the position. Personally I have no racial hangups at all and I don't care if he's blue or green just as long as he can play centerfield back there and stop big plays.

BDM, if he did have racial hangups, what is it to you? I'm not a racist, and clearly, he's not either, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions on everything on God's green earth.

I don't know what all the hoosafudge is about w/ the white comparison but I can't even count how many times I saw the phrase "slow white guy, another slow white guy, white Archuletta," and so on on here.

Whoa! Where did I ever say that Soul had a racial hangup. That's quite a leap from what I actually said. In fact, I said "not specifically picking on you". I was pointing out that the vast majority of the time a white player is compared to someone, its another white guy. I find that interesting.

He's right Dags and I never took it that way either. I only said what I did in the second paragraph of my post back to bdm to assure any members we have who are black or other minorities that I'm not prejudiced or racist at all. I was once accused of that a long time ago but never by bdm.
Actually he makes a good point. Why didn't I compare him with Mark Carrier (who is black) another California college guy who played a few really good seasons for us. He had 10 picks in his rookie year. It may just have been an unconscious slip on my part but more likely it's because I tend to compare many of today's Bears with players from the 80's. That just me I guess. I've already compared Meriweather (black) with Doug Plank (white) who'd be banned from the NFL today for the way he speared people.
Really guys. No harm, no foul here. I wasn't offended. I just thought I should explain myself.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to imply that you were racist, although I can see how my response could have been taken that way. It probably wasn't worded the best to explain what I was saying. I was more trying to point out human nature than anything. I do it myself.
