I'm not sure if we're better off or not, but Merriweather has more physical upside than Harris at this point.
But all of that is besides the point. Merriweather has nothing to do with this. Do you really think this is about roster space or money??? Harris's attitude is clearly piss poor. He's played like garbage and his arrogance is showing. He wants recognition for past accomplishments and has outwardly seemed to ignore the fact he's playing like crap. It's attitudes like his that permeated throughout the locker room in the two years after the Super Bowl. I'd imagine Lovie's had enough of it, and personally, I say 'good riddance'.

Just figured out that Chris Harris blocked our site from following him on Twitter awhile ago, so he's on my list now, he blocks anyone that was criticizing him and he probably didn't like one of our thread titles about him. That's weaker than his tackling this year.

I think from Harris' perspective it does. I can't see where his play was any worse than Meriweather in fact it seemed better since Harris didn't end up with fines for headhunting. The only attitude we've seen came after his being made inactive. Part of the reason for his decline in performance has been that hammy.
How can they in all good conscience keep a guy like Omiyale in uniform when he's proven time and time again that he can't handle even one position on the offensive line and let a guy like Harris go over a couple of weeks of bad play while he was fighting an injury? He was right when he spoke up about a double standard.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

What kind of an issue could he have with one thread that announces his release and the other simply talks about the Bears taking a look at some FA two of whom happen to be Safeties? They're just resposts from the Trib! If he's in an uproar over this you can bet he didn't see this coming.

I'm not sure when exactly he put the block on our site from Twitter, but I've heard that if he reads any negativity he puts you on block. So he may have visited the site and saw some less than positive things and put us on block. Either way good luck back in Carolina with Chico.

Well there's little doubt that Conte will hold onto FS unless he really screws up but Wright has been up and down at SS and Meriweather is a true wild card. Well like Harris said when it comes right down to it it's just business but on top of every other dumb thing they've done this just seems to me like and extesnion of that dumbness.

Bears release Chris Harris
ESPNChicago.com
CHICAGO -- Just over a week after requesting a trade, Chicago Bears safety Chris Harris was released on Thursday morning.
"I was just released this morning by the Bears. Thank u for the opp to play football n do what I luv. I'm looking toward my next venture," Harris tweeted.

A seven-year veteran, Harris was a second-team All-Pro last season and started the club's season-opening victory over the Atlanta Falcons but pulled a hamstring toward the end of the game.
Harris sat out the next three weeks recovering and returned to the lineup for an Oct. 10 loss to the Detroit Lions. In that contest, Calvin Johnson beat Harris deep for a 73-yard touchdown from Matthew Stafford.
Just three days later, the team made the decision to bench Harris. The safety was available to play as a potential backup in the Oct. 16 win over the Minnesota Vikings, but the team made the decision hours before kickoff to deactivate Harris.
The next day, Harris requested permission to seek a trade. The trade deadline passed without a move, and Harris actually started against Tampa Bay on Sunday in London.
"Considering that he was benched, I can't say I'm surprised," Harris' agent Albert Elias said of the Bears' decision to release Harris.
Rookie Chris Conte started in place of Harris the past two games.
"This Business known as the #NFL is a strange one. Chicago I want to thank u for all the luv u have shown me over the yrs. u will b missed," Harris tweeted.
In his second stint with the Bears after the club traded last year with Carolina to bring him back, Harris was in the final year of the contract he signed upon returning.
Harris, 29, has played in 88 career games with 82 starts over seven seasons, and has posted 416 tackles and 15 interceptions, in addition to forcing 12 fumbles.
ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright contributed to this report.

Screw the double standard or high school drama BS. If he really is worried about a double standard, then that's a big part of his problem. He needs to worry about himself and no one else. Hurt or not, he played like crap and hurt this team. If his injury got in the way, then he needs to be a professional and realize this. Skip the "ooh rah, I'm a warrior" crap, if you hurt your team because you're out there playing hurt, then you're being selfish.
Honestly, people bitch that Lovie doesn't hold players accountable and when he finally does, people whine about others in the past who were not. Merriweather got benched and so did Omiyale. Omiyale came in as a reliever and got benched from that too. I imagine he'll be cut as soon as more depth is acquired, or they feel Carimi is back to full health.
If you want to defend Harris's play this season, feel free. But I for one am glad they're finally holding people accountable for their actions like the better run teams in this league.
