What if Forte starts holding out now? Mid Season?
Chances of this happening are very slim, but they have been discussing it on the radio. I know its their job to stir up controversy but they bring up a good point.
How would you react if right now Forte decided that he was not playing another down until he got paid? Basically saying pay me or the Bears season is over?
How would you react?

I'd say Forte is an idiot, because as I understand it, his contract won't advance another year if he does this. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). So he'd be back to making $600,000 next season or whatever it is. The Bears really do hold the edge on this one.

Right the time for that if any was in the preseason bleeding into regular season, if he were to pull this stunt now he would come off looking bad, even though most agree he's in the right here. He needs to be paid and regardless of where JA says team focus should be now this is an exception to the norm and he should be working out this deal.
Fun fact - Cam Newton has more yards rushing than Chris Johnson.

I saw a facebook / ESPN poll asking if CJ should be benched
but..CJ is hurting Forte too, IMO. He got paid...he's like the opposite of 50cent right now...he got rich and quit tryin'

That is exactly what is keeping the Bears from giving him a long term deal at high value. He could slip into Chris "I wanna live out my contract and not get hurt" Johnson mode. At least that is what the Bears are afraid of

Not until at least the 2014 season, unless he gets hurt and or cut

Franchise tag him and then work out a 3 year deal from there.... he just wants guaranteed money like the rest of 'em.
Also I heard Chris Johnson is changing his nickname from "CJ2K" to "CJ2.8YPC"

Why does this even keep coming up. The new CBA permits teams to fine a player holding out up to $30k PER DAY!!!!! In a little over ten days of holding out Matt Forte would start owing the Bears money. Of course I'm stretching is a little but the reason the owners demande and got stiff penalties for holdout is so that key players can't hold the team and an entire season ransom.
If we was gonna holdout he would have done it before the season began and it wouldn't have gained him any more leverage then than it does now. They have him over a barrel because he's not a FA and they can always franchise him if he's likely to become one. It would be nice if radio talk shows speculated on something that could actually happen. Holding out won't get him a contract extension because the Bears will fine him and just play Barber and Bell in his stead and we all know that.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

But it would kill the Bears playoff chances if he held out.
