I'm 100% behind Forte but Matt, NO WHINING!!!
I was watching Pardon The Interruption and they reported that Matt Forte said that the Bears "are grinding me into a pulp."
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, mutherfukkin' NO!
You simply CANNOT start whining about how you're being used. Would you be being "ground into a pulp" if you had a new deal? Or would it just be business as usual? The Bears are using you the same way they have the first 3 seasons. They actually gave you a great back-up in Barber. You have the entire Bear Nation behind you because you reported to camp on time, played like the elite back that you are and KEPT YOUR MOUTH SHUT. You simply cannot start trying negotiate through the media. You have no leverage.
You'll either get a new deal or be franchised and paid like a top 5 back. I know this is more about how the Bears aren't treating you like you're their best player than it is about money, but you can't be whining about being "ground into a pulp". You're a running back on a running team. IT'S YOUR JOB! You could always sit out (and lose even more public backing).
You know what you can do? You can keep playing like a monster. You'll get franchised and paid handsomely (you should be THANKING Chris Johnson for driving up RB prices). Just pray or seek counseling to get over your wounded pride. I don't want to see anymore of this pity-party you're starting to throw yourself in the media. We're ALL BEHIND YOU. We all believe and wish you got a new deal like....YESTERDAY. But we also want to see you keep playing lights out football, not whining about how hard your chosen profession is.

I think it's more about the respect then the money.that said,if it was my team;I'd say Matt,we want to do right by you, let's give you a year at say 8-10 mill, and work in out in that timeframe.
He's worth it,and it doesn't lock anyone into a long term deal.

Excellent post Starky. He's been a class act so far unlike Briggs and now isn't the time to turn this over to the media. The Bears have already been judged and found guilty nationally so this accomplish nothing.
I highlighted the single most important factor in why he's gonna have to moderate his asking price. Just like Briggs he has zero leverage and this isn't gonna change that. Matt and his agent need to begin looking at that reality if they really expect to get a long term deal done. If not like you point out he get's paid like a top 5 back for at least one season so he needs to just sit back and let this play out.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

The point that Forte is seemingly missing as time goes on is, he is worth it, management knows he's worth it but want to get him at the best price for them. Forte needs to keep playing ball and realize every Sunday regardless of continent the fans have signs saying Pay Forte, if he starts bashing the organization he will lose his favorable position, nobody is bigger than the team.

I 100% agree. But Forte has got to be getting frustrated. And probably nervous. He knows he could get hurt on any given play and *poof* there goes his deal.

Two things noone considers is one bears are over using him to the point of doing damage to his long term out look of his career cause of crap offensive talent. Two he can make more money by being franchises for two years in a row then taking the bullshit 14 mil guarantee they offered. Just cause they can franchise him doesn't mean he should accept 25 percent less then the d Williams deal

All this bad publicity is making Jerry Angelo look like a douche bag.. absolutely wonderful :)

First off, I disagree that they're overusing him. They're using him like they always have. It's like on poster said, he's just worried he'll get hurt before he gets a deal. If he had his deal, I doubt he'd be complaining about "overuse". If he's smart, he'd WANT the franchise tag. He'd make more money than if he took the original offer. He just needs to stop whining.

Didn't Emmitt Smith hold out and complain about not getting paid? Disagree with the disagreement with Forte's attitude.
