Damn inflation! Guess I'll have to shorten my driveway a bit.

Not quite. There is a union but it imposes few restrictions or guidelines on the pay of it's member short of some minimums depending on the number of years a guy has played. Production doesn't enter into that equation. Just timed served. It's still a capitalistic system but with strong socialistic underpinnings for the owners benefit, not the players.
Bottom line is he still has to play for what they are willing to pay him like it or not. He can sit out but the two things he can't do are play for anyone else or start his own team. We can debated this all we like but at the end of the road those are the truths Matt has to live with for 2012.

I agree. It's up to Forte. You are only worth as much as someone is willing to offer you.

well its not as if other teams are offering him anything, they CANT. He has to deal with us, or nobody at all. Should he hit the free market, you can bet some team is going to pay him more then we would have.

Well therein lies the problem brother. In the NFL it's never a "free market" unless you suck or your overpaid. Never for those who are underpaid. He is a victim of that, if you can call $7.74 mil for one year victims compensation. But those are the rules that every player has to play by. The NFLPA agreed to them on their behalf.

Can you say Dan Snyder and the Washington Redskins? That guy would buy a golden turd if he thought it would patch a hole and make his team a little bit better.

You can get those at McDonalds now. They have 'em on the breakfast menu. Ask for the #6 Combo.
