Carimi Still Nursing Sore Knee, Out For Monday's Game...............
Bears' Carimi held out of practice with sore knee
By Brad Biggs, Tribune reporter 6:08 p.m. CDT, November 4, 2011
Right tackle Gabe Carimi was the only player to miss practice on Friday as the Chicago Bears held him out a day after he participated in his first fully padded workout since injuring his right knee Sept. 18 at New Orleans.
Coach Lovie Smith indicated it was an expected development after Carimi was worked hard in practice.
“His knee was a little sore, so we held him out of practice,” Smith said. “Besides that, we’re in pretty good shape.”
Carimi has not been scheduled to start Monday night at Philadelphia. The Bears will give Lance Louis his third start at right tackle with Chris Spencer making his sixth start at right guard.
Offensive coordinator Mike Martz and line coach Mike Tice have both said they are going to take their time waiting for Carimi to be ready to return. Given the development, it’s certainly possible Carimi will still be on the sideline when the Bears host the Detroit Lions on Nov. 13 at Soldier Field.
“We started working him a bit last week and we worked him pretty hard (Thursday),” Smith said. “So I think you should expect this to happen. We’re not rushing him back or anything like that. We just want to see it play out. He should be OK eventually.”
Carimi was the only player the Bears listed on their injury report.
The final report is not due out until Saturday. Only one Eagles player was held out Friday 00 defensive end Juqua Parker (ankle). Linebacker Akeem Jordan, who had been out with a concussion, was cleared to return and he practiced. The Eagles listed six other players as full participation – safety Nate Allen (knee), tight end Brent Celek (hip), offensive tackles King Dunlap (back) and Winston Justice (knee), running back LeSean McCoy (illness) and fullback Owen Schmitt (groin).

Inside the Bears
Gabe Carimi ruled out for Monday night game
By Sean Jensen on November 5, 2011 2:04 PM| No Comments| No TrackBacks
Bears rookie offensive tackle Gabe Carimi fully participated in practice Thursday, but he hasn't practiced in the two days since and has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"Gabe Carimi hasn't responded as well as we wanted him to. So we're going to keep him out another week," Bears coach Lovie Smith said. "We're not going to play him this week. Besides that, have everybody else ready to go, ready to play the game."
Carimi partially dislocated his knee cap in the second quarter of the team's second game of the season, in New Orleans. He hasn't played in a game since, and he just returned to practice last week.As a result, Lance Louis will start his third consecutive game at right tackle.
For the Eagles, only the status of defensive end Juqua Parker is in doubt. He's listed as doubtful with an ankle injury.

Not at all unexpected. As well as the current group has been playing together (relatively speaking) there's really no need to rush him back and risk further set backs. Carimi is gonna become a pro-bowl OT and a fixture in that line for the next 10 years and we don't need to risk that over one game no matter how important.
The more I see of Louis at RT the more I like him. His pass blocking has been great so I hope that continues if we move him back to RG when Carimi does return. For the most part the line is blocking well without Carimi right now so why upset the apple cart when the guy is not ready to return at 100% yet.

I would like to see Carimi return as the LT when he is back in the lineup. Webb is the weak link in that lineup right now, and we need not waste more time with him committing stupid penalties like false starts and holding calls as well as getting blown off the line of scrimmage. Replace him with Carimi on whatever day he returns to the lineup, and that, my friends, will be a much more formidable OL.

I'd like to see Carimi at LT too Dags but with his injury, Webb's only slight improvement, and that mysterious "athleticism" Webb seems to possess over Carimi we won't see it. Only way you'd see it is injury and even then I shudder as they might put in Ohmyfail.

That would be nice but I don't think there's on chance in thousand Tice will do that. He's solidly convinced Carimi is a future All-Pro at RT and I don't believe he'll do what was done with CWill and move him around. My guess is that Carimi stays right where he is and if Webb is still not getting the job done by years end we'll look for a different LT in the offseason.

His pass blocking has improved 100% at OT from what is was when the season started. I hope he can keep that intact when he moves back inside. Anyway he's gonna have his hands full with Jason Babin on Monday. Babin will be his toughest challenge so far and if he succeeds I'd say that at least one of the newbies is a definite keeper.

An interesting problem is what to do w/Carimi if Louis keeps it up at RT and Spencer can hold the line at RG. Perhaps then (next season perhaps) there would be a push for Carimi at LT

Next year it's a possiblity if Webb fails and they don't find a vet LT in the offseason. Remember, Spencer was signed to play OC and Garza is at the end of his contract so there's a good chance that Spencer will be playing OC next year. Garza plays cheap so there's always a chance they'll make him an offer to keep him for depth but sooner or later he's gone and Spencer takes over.
I'd like to see them dust OMG's ass and see what this kid Levi Horn has to offer. They signed him as an OT but had him playing OG in the offseason but I think that was just to see if he had the flexibility to play both positions. That's what Tice wants from his guys so he can always put the best five on the field. Easier to do when the OT's can play OG too.
